The Sweetest Poison

For a more in-depth look into my world visit my Myspace Profile

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
Currently employed at a Blockbuster. So I get paid to watch movies and argue with people about late fees. Aspirations aim toward something in the field of fashion-journalism with the goal of becoming a correspondent for a pop-culture/fashion magazine.

2. Where are you from?
Southern California

3. Who is your favorite author?
Dead~Aldous Huxley. Living~Neil Geiman (I like graphic novels)

4. What are your favorite films?
Donnie Darko, Alice in Wonderland, Requiem for a Dream

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
I don't believe in marriage..... but that's a different topic altogether.
How about Joy Devision~Love Will Tear Us Apart.

6. At your funeral?
Probably some melancholy piano comosition.

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
I'd prefer to just mysteriously disappear. Something uncanny like being struck by lightning and vanishing or being absorbed into a transdimensional wormhole. I don't even know if 'transdimensional' is a real word. Perhaps it should be hyphenated?

8. What kind of casket would you want?
Something with lots of white satin and black velvet.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
I love formalwear. Expensive suites with cufflinks and all.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
Neverland; Wendy and the lost boys.

11. What's your favorite band?
The Birthday Massacre

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
I skipped the 8th grade and took accelerated learning classes throughout highschool. I graduated when I was 16. I plan on starting college within a year's time and I plan on being a journalism major with a minor in fashion marketing.

13. Why did you join?
I've only recently decided to pursue writing as a career. At the moment I am seeking any kind of creative outlet where I will have the oppertunity to network with other writers.

Welcome Poison.

You seem like a nice addition to our little community.

:)

Thank you all for such a warm welcome. Feel free to add me on myspace. It would be best to send me a message prior to your friend request, lest I believe you are simply whoring and deny you. That being said, if someone could direct me to any goth-culture magazines (preferably with a focus on fashion) I would be eternally grateful.

Godslayer Jillian 03-11-2006 02:13 PM

I'd say the only thing that can be gothically reccomended are books. "Gothic" magazines are basically saying only they know what being gothic is about, and obviously mainly, if not only, talk about fashion and music.
And in fashion. Just dress as you see aesthetically pleasing. I myself like being overdressed. How about you?

Dressing as you see aesthetically pleasing is good advice when pertaining to personal clothing style, but I am talking about fashion as a cultural art form. In this sense, fashion is more than personal; it's global and transcends clothing as it can be applied to furniture, architecture, cosmetics, vernacular, and cultural trends in general. I'm just asking if anyone knows of any magazines that follow the trends in the gothic culture, that's all.

Oh and I try to dress for the occasion, but I also tend to overdress.

Welcome hottie...

Wait your only 16, damn...

WolfMoon 03-11-2006 05:57 PM

I don't think that there are any magazines that follow any of the latest 'trends' in the scene. For that, you'd have to be personally involved in the scene, go to the clubs/gatherings.

PoisonHeart 03-11-2006 08:36 PM

I actually just turned 18, I graduated almost 2 years ago and have since been working full time while developing my talents. And about the magazines, I was just looking for publications like "Asleep By Dawn" and "Virus" that maybe feature dark music and such. Perhaps I'm asking the wrong questions. I'm really not interested in debating whether or not there is such thing as a goth-culture magazine, I'm just curious if anyone knows of any good magazines that might be accepting freelance writing.

Well atleast I know I'm not the only one...except all of the things I wear are from the early 50's and 60's with the exception of a few things I bought at the salvation army and stole from the local theatre. Whatever, velvet suits kick ass. Welcome to gnet!

You're not the first to make that mistake, I'll choose to take it as a compliment because it works out better for both of us that way. And Metatron, you've inspired me to go steal some costumes from a theatre. Thank you. *Tags Geisha* Games of tag are always more fun in cemeteries.

I know, I've been looking for work at a theatre to ask them for that little favor also:D

No silly, the headstones become a vital part of the game; you can't touch them or you are automatically designated "it". So you must either dodge them, jump over them, or become intangible and pass through them.
