Bothering Me

Why are so many Goths supporting Democrats? I know most Goths are liberal by default. However, though Democrats say they are the minority leaders it is only because they don't have as many people in office.

I know someone who is a Goth. They worked for a Democrat candidate. After only one time the Democrat leader met them in public, while they were hanging out in their black pimp hat, makeup and Goth gear. The Democrat Offical immediately fired them without hesitation. In the office they are okay dressing like whatever and denying their true culture, but when finding out their lifestyle get away?

Meanwhile, people are turned off by the Republicans Nationalist stand; however, the Constitution and nation state people are free with equality in pursuit of happiness. They don't shun people for not dressing or acting as they want in their pursuits. Therefore, Republicans actually stand for personal freedom which is extremely liberal.

I don't get shunned for going out to night clubs, smoking cigarettes or wearing a lot of black. I am all over the place being myself and in turn I support other people who want protection of their lifestyle whether owning guns, wearing tacky red neck clothing or exposing their religion on every street corner.

Why don't people understand how to have personal freedom means acceptance of everyone? They government needs to get out of people's homes and I am one hundred percent backing this, because I see how it works for me and everyone else.

What makes you think the other party would not react in the same fashion ?It's well known that the conservative party upholds traditional values and shuns alternative ideologies and lifestyles, for a lack of a better expression.

Oh and the assumption that this incident is proof that the government is always there to supress your freedoms, is kind of childish.

KontanKarite 04-29-2010 07:42 PM

Republicans will also just fire you for threatening the health of their business for dressing like an evil mime.

Actually they won't. Especially if it is on your own time. They want people to make decisions for themselves and believe the free market resolves issues. Obviously anyone's dress code is not a threat to the nation and it is important more people see they are a part of a group in which others care about them. Crimes taking away or inhibiting another's rights are the issue. I've found most Republican issues revolve around freedom and human rights.

CptSternn 04-30-2010 12:21 AM

Try wearing your normal goth attire to your next town hall meeting with any republican candidate and see if they even let you in the door, then come back here and say that.

Deadmanwalking_05 04-30-2010 06:00 AM

Go to a Ron Paul Event you'll be welcomed, just like others are.

KontanKarite 04-30-2010 10:10 AM

Ron Paul doesn't exactly count as a Repulican.

And Catch, that argument that they don't care so long as you do it on your own time... you're an idiot. Both parties do that because it's fairly common for people to not give a good god damn about what you do on your own time.

Stop and do a little more political lurking.

I agree!
Many Republican issues revolve around things like government-funded health care, the right to abort, and LGBT rights - you know, denying people those rights. *facepalm*

*heh heh heh heh heh* ... Yeah, I was going to post something like this yesterday and just decided I didn't want to bother. You said it much better than I would have, anyway. *snicker*

Neither party cares or respects individual freedom. Both Democrats and republicans are guilty for horrendous acts of genocide abroad. Cmon people, we should know this by now.

Stitchy. 04-30-2010 11:05 AM

Genocide? I choose not to pick a party in this debate because I get into to many arguements about this anyways but please what is this genocide you speak of?

KontanKarite 04-30-2010 11:26 AM

It's because we are the sky people.

blindNsect 04-30-2010 11:38 AM

This is all just speculative. Except this: all career politicians are scumbags.

vindicatedxjin 04-30-2010 11:39 AM

If they're stalled in the bathroom, I would feel pity for their problem.

The U.S has been involved in genocide either directly or indirectly through financial and political influence. Does Herny Kissinger and Cambodia ring a bell ? Or perhaps the U.S backed Chilean regime of Pinochet, the ruthless dictator who is accountable for the death and dissapearance of over ten thousand people (he used to bury students alive). Not to mention the dear ex ally, the trecherous Saddam Hussein before the Gulf wars. And of course the U.S backed and financed Israeli pursued genocide against Palestine which dates back since the 60's.

These are the most relevant I can think of right now, and it excludes the numerous individual political assasinations the CIA is involved in.

This info has always been out there. The only thing one has to do is go to the library and pick any critique on U.S foreign policy. There are plenty of leading intellectuals who write on these subjects.

CptSternn 04-30-2010 10:44 PM

Whereas there may be truth to that statement, it has sweet feck all to do with the current topic of why goths do not support republicans.

Meh, not really. He poses good points, but his patriot fans are kind of annoying; you know, the ones that hang tea bags in their ears, and cling to their gun in one hand and their bible in the other ranting effortlessly about the New World Order and how Obama is conspiring to kill their granny. But Ron Paul is ok.

I think his position of disbanding the IRS/ eliminating income tax would result in a catastrophic weakening of the American government, which would damage American interests both at home and abroad, all the while pushing us closer to the nightmare that is anarcho-capitalism. I also find his pro-life status worrisome.

I do like the sunlight legislation act, however.

All in all he is- at best- a naive guy with some super-nutty, racist, homophobic, nationalist fans, and at worse he's a way for the republican leaders to convince libertarians to vote against their own interests.

Also: Ohj Noes! Our Freedoms Being Stoled!11one.

JCC 05-01-2010 10:40 AM

I fucking hate Ron Paul, and think that anyone that likes Ron Paul is crazy.
