The Sophie Lancaster Foundation is fucking retarded and you are an idiot if you send them money.

First I want to say that this is not about Sophie Lancaster. Getting beaten to death by scumfuck shit-for-brains is a horrible, tragic death and if I was able I would certainly offer my condolences to her family. Hell, I’d probably gas the fuckers that did it too. That said, the Foundation is still one of the stupidest fucking things I have ever heard of.


These are two of their stated aims:

1. To provide educational group-works that will challenge the prejudice and intolerance towards people from alternative subcultures.

2. To campaign to have the UK Hate Crime legislation extended to include people from “alternative subcultures” or “Lifestyle and Dress”.


Now, number one is such an epic waste of time and money I can’t believe it. Apparently if you donate money to the foundation they are going to go around to schools and tell people how special and distinctive Cyber Goths are and how laughing at them is pretty much the same as using the N word to a black person. Are Goths really that DESPERATE for attention that they want to force school children to listen to them prattle on about how unique and significant they are?!

It seems to me that Goth ‘counter-culture’ (epic lol) deeply wants people to be aware of all of their inner categorizations and derivatives and for people to know what they are and what they’re not. But guess what, the only people who care about all these fucking labels are themselves. Everyone else just thinks they’re emo. And yeh that includes those 40 year old fat retards that saw Bauhaus in the 80s. Is killing emos bad? Yes. Do we need a specific law to state this? No.

What a total waste of time and resources. Students have to sit still and listen while some waste of life with blue hair tells them how important it is not to laugh at people with a different sense of style? Coz that’s all it is. A different sense of style. Goth’s aesthetic appreciation of the world does not differ in any meaningful or fundamental way from everyone else. They value facial symmetry don’t they? They don’t like fat people even though most of them are fat themselves. No it’s just about fashion. It’s certainly not about music since most of their musical icons are embarrassed by their connection to them.

In Ireland a year or so ago, two Polish men were killed when some scummy bastard ran up and stabbed them repeatedly in the head with a screwdriver. God, if only they’d had eyebrow piercings, then they’d have foundations too… Talk about discrimination.

I really hope there are some cynical people at the top pocketing the cash coz otherwise it’s the biggest waste of money ever…

I did a quick check with the search function before I posted and I didn't find any criticism of the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.

Maybe I didn't look hard enough but whatever. Message boards are for opinions. I guess it's likely that sometimes those opinions will have already been expressed.

But must they be expressed with the undeserved feeling that it's somehow a revolutionary opinion?

I never said it was revolutionary. I've been hearing and seeing a lot about the Sophie Lancaster Foundation again recently and it got me annoyed. My language was an attempt to express my annoyance.

Like I said, I found no specific criticism of the Foundation with the search function.

That's because, overall, few people know about it, and of those who do, few actually care about it one way or the other.

I didn't know it existed.
