Howdy, I'm vashsunglasses

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
I'm a perpetual college student who occasionally takes time off school for spinal surgeries. Give me a million years and I might graduate... or crumble into dust. Whichever.

2. Where are you from?
I live in Arizona which is actually pretty cool because it allows me to indulge in the Old West side of my Victorian Era Obsession.

3. Who is your favorite author?
My favorite author is... Tolkien. I can't get enough of Lord of the Rings. I watch the extended editions every few months, I'm reading through the book in "real time", and I'm attempting to walk the same distance the characters walked to get from the Shire to Mordor (Eowyn Challenge). Oh and I wear a replica of the One Ring around my neck 24/7.

4. What are your favorite films?
My favorite film is either Lord of the Rings (all of them), or Star Wars (all SIX of them, yes even the Prequels... I'm such a rebel).

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
I'm Asexual, the only way I'm getting married is over my dead body... in which case, see the answer to question 6.

6. At your funeral?
Mozart's Requiem Mass

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
In my sleep with a purring cat on my chest.

8. What kind of casket would you want?
An inexpensive one. Mortuaries in this country are a scam. They take advantage of people who are grieving and charge them thousands of dollars for a box that will rot in the ground. As long as I'm buried in a Catholic Cemetery (Hallowed Ground) I don't care what the box looks like.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
Black shirt, gray vest, gray skirt, black leggings, thigh high black boots.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
I miss being innocent.

11. What's your favorite band?
Alice in Chains or Soundgarden.

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
I have a 2 year degree in business. I will either continue to a 4 year in business or transfer to an elementary school teaching degree.

13. Why did you join?
I wanted to hang out with fellow goths and the pickings in my town are pretty slim.

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
Female.

Hi Vash. :)

vashsunglasses 02-07-2011 09:49 AM

Hi Wulfgang. I noticed you didn't answer those questions they gave us... you've got me feeling curious now. :)

Wulfgang 02-07-2011 09:53 AM

Oh shiza, theres a test already?

Hmmm .. what would you like to know?

vashsunglasses 02-07-2011 09:57 AM

The answers to the same questions I answered in the opening post.

This is a proctored exam and you have 1 hour to complete it. Use a number 2 pencil and be sure to completely fill in the bubbles. If I catch you cheating you'll get a zero on your grade and fail the class.

And... begin!

4.Das Boot, Liquid Sky, Frankenstein and so on. mostly horror and sci-fi flicks.

6. kronos quartet.

7.Sex, chocolate and beer.

8. not sure.

9.Black!

10. accountability.

11. Fav band? hmm to many to list. killing joke, Siouxsie, Skinny puppy and so on.

12. I have learned more from my personal experiences and interactions with others than I did going to college.

13. I was looking for a site I didn't have to pay hidden fee's for.

14. Male.

vashsunglasses 02-07-2011 10:23 AM

So you don't believe in weddings at all? Or do you have an alternate definition of wedding that doesn't match the legal one? This is very interesting... I've long been repulsed by way most weddings are done. All this "something old something new" nonsense and having to spend more money on it than you do on a car.

Wulfgang 02-07-2011 10:33 AM

I think a wedding should have in no way any merit on your legal and monetary status. it's almost like having to get insurance, yet another thing for someone to tax and tell you that you cant do it doggy style in Kentucky.

I think the expression of love, faith and commitment between two people and there beliefs is a private affair that should not be dictated by state and federal law so they can make a profit from it.

That's Grell Sutcliff from the anime/manga Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler). You can watch it on YouTube (legally) and I highly recommend it... Watch at least up to episode 5.

The anime is about a boy who sells his soul to a demon in order to obtain that demon's life long service in search of revenge for the death of his parents. That's all I can say without spoiling it.

Do you know if they are going to continue dubbing the series or did they completely stop at 4. I realize there are many who hate dubbed anime, but I simply prefer it, perhaps for reasons related to my condition but I hate watching subtitled anime.

I assume they'll dub it all but I don't know for sure. It's probably a work in progress right now with the dub.

vashsunglasses 02-07-2011 07:44 PM

I don't want to double post but it won't let me edit anymore.

Anyway, they're releasing the episodes slowly with the dub. If you don't want to wait you could always read the translated manga instead. This is such an awkward place to be stuck at, the story is just about to get really interesting...

You can find it online here: (go to the bottom of the page for links)

Holy shit, this is a thing? Holy shit, the website makes it kinda feminist? Holy shit, its easy to get me interested in walking to Mount Doom in back. I think I just nerdgasmed.

And I'm jealous, I was always drooling over the jewelry catalogue that came with the LOTR DVDs. I actually wasn't a huge fan of the movies, well particularly the Two Towers...but still, NERDGASM.

You should totally try the Eowyn Challenge, it's massively addicting. I'm a few miles outside Bree right now, the hobbits and I just left Tom Bombadill's company and Strider is hiding in the bushes (and I love saying that!!! I'm such a ridiculous fangirl.)

Make sure you download the detailed distance charts. They make it so much more fun because you can follow along in the books and know exactly where you are to the very word.

Saya 02-07-2011 08:29 PM

I totally am! I'm just going to buy a walking meter and do this. I want to say "I walked to Mount Doom and back!"

My inner child is weeping with joy right now, as a kid I took my stuffed animals, name them dwarves and recreated The Hobbit journey. Now I can do LOTR as an adult!

I got a cheap walking meter and it was junk so watch out for that. I ended up measuring the distance in the car. If I walk down to the nearby park, go around it twice, then come back, it's exactly 2 miles.

I also do equivalent exercise. If the weather isn't good for walking I'll do 20 minutes of dance for every 1 mile I want to walk.

There's a thought. I do have access to a gym at my university, would doing a treadmill or bike do until the snow here melts?

Yep. As long as you make the same effort. 20 mins on a treadmill or bike would equal 1 mile of walking effort if you do it aerobically. That means you shouldn't be gasping for breath but you should be lightly sweaty and warm feeling.

Do what feels right for you. You'll know in your heart that you've made the effort to get there, and that's the most important thing.
