Wikipedia shutting down
They're actually going to do it, as of 5:00 UTC Wednesday January 18th, across the globe, the English version of Wikipedia will blackout for 24 hours. 3,831,000+ articles inaccessible, 1.8 billion native English speaking (native and second language) people affected, 535 congressmen(well not all of them) who will sound like complete idiots(as opposed to mere morons) due to having no idea what they are debating about.
To this I say bravo. Also I hear minecraft is doing the same thing. |
WFT?blablabla

Ah forgot to mention this is in protest of SOPA

You nearly gave me a heart attack with that subject.
|
As far as I understand, it's only going to be for 12 hours.
|
You're thinking of Reddit Kas. As the link I included says(which is directly off of wikipedia) its a full 24 hours.
|
NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! I thrive from wiki, how will I survive a whole day without it. FUCK COCK SPAM MONKEY COCK BISCUITS.
|
I am so happy that they're doing this.
I've been calling and emailing my senators non-stop, and they've been ignoring me non-stop. Hopefully now more people will realize what's going on and they can stop pretending like no one cares about Internet censorship. |

I just feel like SOPA is so ridiculously unconstitutional that there's no way the shit will pass. Every day a judge doesn't say "what is this horsehit" while pointing everyone out of the court room I lose a little more faith in humanity's ability to think critically.

THe problem you've got is that from what I've seen he who can afford the best lawyer will win the case in the US, regardless of evidence. And there is a hell of a lot money being put into SOPA and PIPA. I'm against them and I'm a UK citizen.
|
The goverment just took out megaupload today.
|
Yeah it seems they had not problem doing so without SOPA, hich leads to the obvious question: why the fuck do they need to approve such damaging legislation in order to do something that they clearly already have the power to do?
|
to make it "legal", so they can say that's the way the voting public wants to be "protected". If we don't object, hollywood and big money get their way. At least it's postponed for now. Harry Reid here in NV said he'd support "postponing" any action on it, but he sure hasn't withdrawn support of the bill. Jackass.

I rather like this interesting little picture I came across on pirate bay today.
