Today I was reminded of dial up internet. In that memory I was reminded of the one time when I was barely a teen, and looking to get off.

Back then the internet was filled with adverts that claimed to provide free porn(as some of you may remember). Those adverts lead to a website which made you download a dialer program, which disconnected you from your normal dialup isp and connected you directly to their service. What it only said in the fine print however(which they knew no horny teen would bother reading) that while the porn was free, the call was not, and charged a lot of money for that. Combine that with the slow speed of dial up, and you end up waiting hours for mere minutes of content to download, then factor in that you're getting charged by the min and you get a pretty good picture of what they were doing.

So with that in mind it doesn't need much explaining that I fell victim to that and low and behold after hours of waiting for a crappy video of a french man and woman groping each other(that's as far as I got). I eventually got fed up with waiting for it, but only after costing my parents hundreds of dollars, and costing myself some embarrassment. A prostitute would have been cheaper, but hey I was young, horny, and dumb(a trifecta of trouble).

Perhaps if I had been born a few years later I would have missed out completely on that scam.

So here comes the part in this thread where I ask about any similar stories from any of you.

I've missed two nice possible relationships with beautiful girls for the certainty of boinking the hot girl instead.

I've also lent 300 dollars with no honest expectation that I was going to get them back, effectively making her a prostitute.

I've tried to give people the benefit of the doubt and show tolerance when I really shouldn't have.

I'm relieved to say that I didn't end up getting intimate with any of these douchebags, but I still regret that I was unaware of the full extent of their racism/sexism/misogyny/controlling behaviour/deceit... and at some level tried to tolerate the little I was aware of.

I think the worst I've done is scour the Internet for porn for a few hours. Oh, the days when I was a teenager and could whack off a million times a day.
