A poem about death

Times ticking away
Your hearts about to stop
The grim reaper is knocking
At your door
Time for you to die
Bring out the coffins.

Its probably not the best :P But I think its alright.

What you think about the matter and what it actually comes down to is neither here nor there.

I wrote a poem about death too.

For a brief moment each of us burns like a spark in the night,
Illuminating those around us.
But the nature of a spark is impermanent,
So one by one, we each fade out
leaving the world a little darker.

The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner

From my mother's sleep I fell into the State,
And I hunched in its belly till my wet fur froze.
Six miles from earth, loosed from its dream of life,
I woke to black flak and the nightmare fighters.
When I died they washed me out of the turret with a hose.

Until someone can write a poem about death that's at least half as good as this, they shouldn't be writing about death.

I write a death poem when I expect to die. I sometimes feel like it's cultural appropriation when I do.

Sorry, what

you are best!

Life is not so long, we should think positively. Sometimes, writing a poem can help us free of stress.

People can write about death in whichever way they want to :) I use poetry to express my feelings about things.

So you feel like telling someone they'll die? That's healthy.

Memento Mori is not a new or unhealthy form of expression.

He's not telling people they will eventually die; he's telling someone he WILL die.

I see your point. The distinction does seem a bit more malign, in retrospect.

Assuming that there is a gender binary, then yeah it's 50/50.
