Any recommendations?

Saturn-Film produced some risque pieces in Edwardian era Vienna, before being banned by the Austro-Hungarian Emperor. Although I can only find a few samples on youtube unfortunately, having viewed their bulk at a local museum.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOGtTcCovqU

Check out The Phantom Carriage. It's one of the best silent films I've seen. Quite an eerie film too, and great soundtrack!

Nosferatu, ov corse!

And The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. And The Mark of Zorro. And definitely The Great Train Robbery.

I'll definitely check it out, thanks. Hopefully I can find the whole film somewhere and eventually watch it.

I just did a mini research on it, and by the looks of it, sounds like a must see.

I haven't seen Nosferatu yet, but will soon. I have it standing right next to my computer ready to go. The other ones I'll check out for sure.

Well, I've only seen some Chaplin and Clara Bow films. Thanks for the list, though. I'll be checking them out for sure.

Anything with Louise Brooks like the aforementioned Pandora's Box.

Nosferatu (1922). If you like that, Werner Herzog made a remake in 1979 starring Klaus Kinski which is also worth a look.

I just watched a really good one on TCM, The Pagan. I normally have a hard time keeping awake during silent films, but its pretty well done. And Renee Adoree is amazing.

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

Thanks for reminding me about Louise Brooks, HP. Also check out films with Pola Negri, Buster Keaton (the Great Stone Face), Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, and my all time favorite, Theda Bara.

I know I've already responded to this thread but Lon Chaney's Phantom Of The Opera is amazing!

I can't think of a silent movie that hasn't been recommended but if you want to just watch a whole variety of them turn on TCM on Sunday evening. I believe they're still doing silent movie sunday's. :)
