I don't know about that. I can see a fair number of countries who would welcome them, or already have them.
For example, Greece still has them as of july 2012. And here in the UK, they were only abolished 4 years ago, although people still occasionally get prosecuted for the"offence" through other means. For example this case from back in 2010. |

That is literally the opposite of what the UN should be pushing for.
Freedom of expression is a fundamental human right. Can't wait to see this get shot down, hopefully no one gets burnt shot or beaten over it. |
Apparently, this is nothing new. There's a bloc of Islamic nations, like 57 of them that try to push this idea almost all the time.
You guys know my stance on this. Free speech trumps "respecting religion". |
