Losing a tan?
Okay well, for the most part my skin is pretty much pale, or its supposed to be, but ever since we moved here to arizona, my arms have gotten a tan and my face is slightly tanned as well. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or knows how to loose a tan? I know avoiding the sun like the black plague will help, and that when I take a shower, rubbing the tanned area near the end of my session gets up all the dead skin and makes my tan lighter, but its taking awhile, how can I loose it faster? School starts wensday, I'd like to have it much lighter by then. And I read about the lemon and peroxide homemade way, tell me more on this, how much lemon and how much peroxide do I mix? Does it stain?
|
I would think that it would stain clothes and I'd like to know the ratio also. >.< I'm brown from Hawaii.

Wear SPF 45 constantly (that's what I do, not because I'm obsessed with staying pale, although I would prefer to keep my skin the color it is, but because I fry so easily and 45 doesn't usually have to be reapplied throughout the day unless I'm going to be outside for a long time), and that should help keep you from tanning more. As far the lemon and peroxide method, I've never used treatments myself, so I don't know, butthis site has a lot of different methods to check out.

Hey thanks alot guys, I've just recently become obssesed with the notion of pale skin, I don't want to use damaging chemicals or anything really, just want to loose the tan on my arms and get paler skin, thanks for all your help. Much love <3

Where the hell do you find glycerine???
|
I like just using the peroxide and lemon juice. That works just fine.

I, too am interrested in this. I will fallow this topic. I'm sorry i cannot contribute too it but im not big with fashion and home made remidies. But my arms are about 10 shades darker than the rest of my body. |
Wouldn't using peroxide be very, very bad for your skin? And burn?

So yes, I may not know what kind of peroxide you use to bleach your skin, but that would not interfer with my first aid ability, as I know perfectly well that hydrogen peroxide and rubbing alcohol are antiseptics. |
I used the peroxide and the lemon juice mixture yesterday (no glycerine though I didn't have it) and it didn't burn or anything. I was fine. It smelt a little funny, but it did the trick. I didn't break out or anything, and I don't have any blothcy skin. I didn't get irritated or anything. I'm fine. I just look paler.

Thank you for the potential sacrifice of your skin. I will definatly be using it... We have a minivan adn when I sit upfront passenger, I like to put my arm out the window and my right arm has a horrid tan, compared to the other. And that one is a little tanner, because I drive a little (learning) and I hang my arm out then too...
Bad habits... but we have no air conditioner and it feels so good. I am done... I've had too much bawls.... or would it be too many? Could you please follow up for me, if it is not too much problem? Do you have oily, normal or dry skin, because I told my mom, who "supports anything I want to look like so long as my ass doesn't show... as well as other body parts" and she said it would dry my skin out. I will buy a bottle of vitamin E skin stuff anyways.... it is so nice having silky skin. |
Well I just tried the proxcide, lemon juice, and glycrine mix. Just got out of the shower. I did'nt know weather I have to leave the stuff on for a long time or just throw it on and wash it off after a few mins, I just put it on and rinsed it off about 4 mins later. Now my arms and face are a bit dry and itchy but thats to be expected with what I'm puting on. Crimson, did you leave it on for 20 mins or what, what did you do? In the morning I'll let you guys know if I notice any difference in my skin tone, right now I need some lotion lol.
|
Yeah. If it turns out really well, I am lucky... H2O2 is only a buck at my local market, as is Vitamin E lotion... -makes my skin yummy- and lemon juice is really cheap too.
I tried peroxide today alone... since I could not wait for people to post more results... my paler arm (I have the -I ride on the passenger side- tan really bad) is now the same colour as my chest adn legs... and face... -almsot white- and my darker arm, the right side, is also paler... I tried rubbing some special lotion my aunt gave me but the crazy woman gave me body wash and I didn't know... What I did: Gentle scrub gel Peroxide body wash (accident) lotion I think I am pleased with the results and I will work on my darker arm... maybe every other day with lotion every day... for balance... |
Tomorrow I am going home from Turkey...I am awfully brown...What can I do to wash the suntan away???
|
equal parts H2O2 and lemon juice... I just rub it on and l;eave it... but you could rinse it off....

Good to know that you don't need the lemon juice. I picked up hydrogen peroxide and glycerin today at the drug store, but they didn't stock lemon juice (and I don't drive, so I couldn't go to the supermarket to pick any up). I'll give this a try tomorrow.
I'm naturally a darker (olive-ish) tone, so I'm wondering how long I should leave the mixture on for. From what I hear, four minutes is long enough to leave your skin dry and scratchy. So maybe I'll want to do several installments over the course of a week or two, of four-minute durations each? |
has anyone tried it that has really sensitive skin? I've been thinking about trying it but my skin is kind of a pain in the ass to the point where I can't even use a regular bar of soap cuz it drys my skin out too much
|
I just made the mixture, and got a kleenex for a test patch. I suggest doing a test patch first just so you know how the mix is going to affect your skin. Wait a little bit to see if you're going to get a rash. If you do, don't use the mix. I rubbed it in the area and waited a few seconds. It went pale almost instantly. I just did that to the rest of my skin. I washed it off a few mintues later. My skin never got itchy or dry. I suggest not leaving it on for too long. I also didn't have glycerine, and I don't know what part that even plays in this whole making you paler thing. But just lemon juice and peroxide works. If you have sensitive skin that gets dry easily use lotion to make it less itchy and such.
|
I've done it with peroxide only.... It doesn't work too well... the first couple treatments are ok, but after that it doesn't do much... I wouldn't try it on super sensitive skin... if a normal bar of soap kills it... I would avoid peroxide... because it could be really bad...
|
Wow... Itake back my last statement... It jsut takes a little longer.... and my arm now feels silky smooth... I've only done one tonight...I should take pictures... I do my arms one at a time... there is a huge difference right now... My right arm looks like a black person's arm compared to my left (the treated) arm.
Also make sure to get from your fingertips to... whatever part of the skin people will be seeing.. I had a horrible mental picture of pale arms/ face... and dark hands.... eww |
wow,i should try that..i think the lemon juice would probley help either that or drinking a small amount of apple cider vinigar early in the morning i've heard works...i don't know i think the skin bleaching sounds less painful then drinking apple cider :-]
|
I did it for the first time today, and it worked beautifully. Unfortunately, the colour returned to my face after I applied a moisturizer (with sunblock). I'll do it again tomorrow, and hopefully I'll eventually end up with a lasting effect.
