the mortician *edited*
He lifted the sheet covering the body that laid on the cold table sheeted in chrome. He read the clipboard aloud, "name: joshua kirkley. Date deceased: 8.15.06. Cause of death: brain hemorage." The students behind him examined and took notes. They saw a body as if it were desgusting, he saw it as beuty. He could easily say that he was the only person in the room that saw beutiful things in life as well as death. Some of them weren't scared of death, but when the reaper is staring at you face to face, by all means you will become scared.
he saw himself as a deliverer, The people died, and he would be the one to take care of their body, without him, their sould could not completley rest in peace. As the demonstration ended, the students walking out the door, he began to clean up. As he was washing the instruments, the body left uncovered, he heard a faint voice. "over here." he looked around in confusion as to what or who was talking. "on the table!!" The voice whispered in a forceful tone. He looked around and saw that the only thing that could be talking was the body. "Impossible!" He said. "Dead things can't talk." "Oh but we can," the body said without hesitation."And we do it often." 'This isn't possible," he thought, "im not crazy." He quickly ran out of the room and down the white hallway into his boss's office. "LOOK! the body can talk!" He said. "See, it's talking right now!" "he can't see me talk, only you can." the body said. "I don't see it talking..." His boss said, and left. |
Is it a conversation with a corpse? Or only in his mind? (Because his boss can't "see it talk"... or hear it move. LOL) Maybe his boss is part of the conspiracy. Good concept.
|
Kinda left us high and dry here..Mid-conversation..

Section 2
The body continued to talk after his boss left.
"you can learn a lot from the dead," the body said softly "I didn't mean to frighten you at all, I apologise for that." "SHUT UP! SHUT UP!!" The man said, and pushed the body back into the droor quickly. He paced quickly around the room pondering if he was crazy or not. Muffled yells came from the freezer drawer. "SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!!" He said and threw a nearby tray of tools at the drawer. A nurse came in and was shocked. "What's going on?!" She said. "Nothing..." He said. He seemed to calm down a little. "If we have any more problemes I'll have to report you to the boss." "Yea whatever..." She left the room and he flung open the drawer door and pulled out the dead body. "DO YOU NOT SEE HOW MUCH TROUBLE YOUR GETTING ME INTO?!?!" He said. "I can't see much in that thing." The corpse replied. "Whatever...just shut your fucking mouth ok?" He said and pushed his boddy back into the drawer and slammed the door. |

Your mix of Horror and Humor, leads to the kind of hybrid writing similar to Young Frankenstein. Maybe crank up the humor even more?...unless that isn't the impact you were going for. |
I think I could arrange to make it a little funnyer...
|
It's spelt *funnier* sweetheart. And yes, I do detect humor. I like this story. It's very neat, and I like the twist of humor. I love your writing style cradle.
|
Very nicely blended concept. The added twist of humor offset the rest of the story really well. The delivery could use a bit of fine tuning, and maybe a quick pass with a spell-checker. Overall I liked this. Good job.

As he was leaving he could hear the muffled corpses voice penatrating his ears like bad music.
"HEY! You aren't gonna leave me in here are you?" The corpse yelled, his voice barely audible from the closed door. The mortician didn't answer, he just grabbed his coat, and walked out. On his way home he was replaying the man's voice over and over, haunting him. Eurithmics was playing lightly over the speakers of his car; He didn't notice his thumbs tapping along with it as he sped deeper into consentration, comming into many close calls while driving. He pulled into his driveway, the cracked cement making noise under the weight of his car tires. He walked up to the door to his house, keys in hand, ready to unlock the door. He slid the key in and unlocked the door. There was an unusual silence in his crimson painted walls. He got into the shower, lukewarm water splashing over him. The voice on the man still haunted his every thought, replaying over and over like a broken record. All he could do was lay in bed that night, thinking about the body. |
Hmmmm, leaving a mystery there. I like that mysterious effect. Adds a nice touch.
|
Maybe as he goes to sleep thinking about the body, he will have a vivid nightmare: the storage crypt opening and the corpse climbing out, flesh dripping from his bones, walking up to the man, a rib falls off and clatters to the floor, and as the almost skeletal corpse gets face to face with him, the man sees glowing red light emanating from the skull's empty eye sockets...DAMN IT i wish this was my story! :) You beat me to it Cradle...
|
Lol...I'll take that as a complement...
|
As he slept, a vivid nightmare struck his nerves.
Awoken by a loud crash of thunder, he looked around. He found himself in a crypt of some sort, a catacomb like place, fog emanting from the ground. He saw a movement in the corner of his eye, it was the movement of the top of a sarcophagus-like chanber. It went from movement to shaking horridly, the man became panic-stricken as the rattling chamber's top shook violently and finally fell to the ground. Just as he thought it could not get any worse, a hand emerged from the dark concrete chamber. The arm soon emerged after the hand, and then the head and torso untill the corpse was sitting a full upright possition, it stared at him with violently bloodshot eyes, and arose from the chamber. It walked towards him slowly, panic rising to the point where he was frozen in place. It's flesh was dripping off the bones in a fast, decomposing manner. The smell was of burnt hair and dead bodies. The air became colder and colder with each step the thing took towards him. It's eyes became redder and redder by each step he took, untill they finally fell out, exposing the black sockets. As he stood there, unable to move, he felt a primal fear, deep into his heart like nothing he had ever felt before. As the thing took its final step towards him, it stopped and stood there, a primal burning green light emanted from the empety sockets. Then, it reached out to grab him, but it was interuppted by an alarm clock. The mortician arose from his bed, that primal fear still burning in his heart, still wondering if it was real. He soon shook the thought off and got ready for work. |
Yea...I played off of your suggestion HP...
|
AWESOME! Very visual! Please go on...

I am liking this story more and more each time. Although your entries are so short, and I like to read more. But your details are still very excellent. But maybe put a little more detail in. Wrap me in the story, every reader wants to be wrapped in it. They want a good visual. Well at least I do as a reader.

He drove down the road, looking at the visage of the sunrise in the faint distance, almost as if it was close enough to reach.
A symphony of red and yellow played so vividly in the dawn's sky. The rest of the sky was grey, like a blank pallette waiting to be painted by the sun. As he drove, the dream haunted him, he'd never had a dream like this. He hoped that the corpse of joshua kirkly would not be there today. He walked into the melancholy building, thinking about the body. As he walked down the white hallways, a smell of formaldyhide seeping through the walls, he had a feeling of despair. What if he is there, he thought, what if I'm not insane, and he's real? He walked into his office, the smell even stronger this time. He walked slowly to the end of the mourgue, tension rising. He put his cold hand on the handle, and pulled. His eyes adjusted and he was at ease when he didn't see the body in the drawer. Asigh of relief came over him, and he sat in his chair to look at the clipboard of the bodies. "Joshua kirkley: Moved!!" He yelled with delight. The secratary came in. "What's the matter?" She said. "Oh, nothing...by the way do we have any new bodies comming in?" "Yes, about two or three actually?" she said. "Can they talk?" he said quickly. "Excuse me?" "Oh, nothing" "Ok...they'll be in in a moment with the bodies." She left the room.................... |
That is really good!! your a good writer. it kept me wanting to read more and more.
