we ARE 138

Hello. This is clearly my introduction post.

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
I'm a reading specialist. I enjoy biking, reading comics, movies, vegan food, and playing dress-up

2. Where are you from?
Raised in Central New York, and lived in Atlanta, GA for 5 years. Then I moved to Philadelphia in May.

3. Who is your favorite author?
Of All Time? I don't think I have one. I enjoy Tolkein, Grant Morrison, fantasy/scifi/surrealist stuff. I could probably tell you what I hate better than what I love.
I just finished The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Neffenegger. It was good, I cried, but I also thought it had some weird racist undertones.

4. What are your favorite films?
Currently watching a lot of Japanese/Korean Horror. American Horror. I recently watched The 3 Extremes and liked it. Also vampire movies. LOVE THEM.
I just watched The Squid and the Whale the other night. I hated it.

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
This is a good question, because I'm planning a wedding right now. At the ceremony we are having strings, but unsure what yet. I was thinking about having an opera trio song from the Pearl Fishers by Bizet. But for our Recession we have chosen Atmosphere by Joy Division. Unfortunately not a lot of friends or family are goth, so we're having to cut down on the industrial. I think we decided on playing one covenant song (no man's land), one VNV nation (kingdom), and one Seabound at the reception. Depeche Mode, The Cure, and the Smiths have to be there.

6. At your funeral?
the misfits.

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
i don't want to. i just want to look dead.

8. What kind of casket would you want?
plain black wooden coffin style. or a black and gold urn.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
anything with a corset. Tightlaced, not plastic or with eyelets. i love corsetry. Mostly Overbust with steel boning and front Busk.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
I don't miss anything about it. Sometimes I think I'm still a kid at 24.

11. What's your favorite band?
Better at telling what I don't like.. Top Bands Include, the smiths, led zeppelin, joy division, the dears, vnv nation, the misfits, souxie and the banshees

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
I have a B.A. in History with a minor in Music. I think I'm going to Med School.

13. Why did you join?
Makeup tips, music tips, networking, and Wedding planning advice as I'm planning for not the most goth friendly environment. and i like goth culture. It's kind of like people watching at my favorite goth club (which is by the way, Shadowland at Ulana's on Saturday Nights. If you're ever in Philly, go there.) but i get to do it at home on the internet! and only listen to the songs I want to hear.

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
womanish.

If you are responding to this, what are you listening to right now?

Geez, just missed meeting you. I'm still near Atlanta, have just started biking this past spring, and several months ago decided there wasn't a reason NOT to be goth.

What about Vegan? That seems so difficult, that practically everything you eat has to be made at home. I think the boards need a cooking and recipe thread, but I'm not sure there isn't one already.

atlanta is an alright city. I used to work at a record store there and so that was really fun. However the goth culture in Philly (and music scene in general) is much bigger than it is in Atlanta. And it's easier to bike places here since the whole dang thing is flat and so much more centralized!!!

as for being vegan, atlanta is surprisingly vegan friendly. I find it harder to eat well here in Philly than I did in Atlanta. OH MY GOSH I MISS EL MYR. please tell me you go there and you love it. El Myr is a burrito place in little five points. you seriously have to go. right next to variety playhouse. I do cook a lot at home. but it's not as hard as some people might think it is. It's kind of hard fashionwise. because sometimes leather corsets are HOT! and sometimes i'm not the best vegan in the world... (: (cake is hard to give up!)

As long as you promise to walk her and feed her and play with her and make sure she doesn't go on the carpet.
