Satanism a question
I’m quite interested in finding out what sort of Satanism Jillian is part of and what it actually is about. Jillian maybe you could explain to us? =p
|
Thank you Bloopie =p.

True. I don't agree with the part of it being a horrible doctrine, but I absolutely agree with Satanism being basically atheism with hedonism attached.
I'd say more about Satanism to answer your questions, DD, but the site Bloopie gave you is enough and more laconic than if I were to explain it. Besides, I have gradually stopped calling myself a satanist due to similar reasons Bloopie mentioned in his first sentence in the above post. Satanism is entertaining and extremely shallow. Its philosophy doesn't have all the useless profoundity of other religions. But still, LaVey said nothing Epicurus didn't know already. |
It is interesting to see how ideas change in people.
From Dogma, (1999, Kevin Smith film ) Rufus: "I think it's better to have ideas. You can change an idea. Changing a belief is trickier. Life should malleable and progressive; working from idea to idea permits that. Beliefs anchor you to certain points and limit growth; new ideas can't generate. Life becomes stagnant." Yeah, its from a Jay and Silent Bob movie ( think Mallrats, Clerks, etc., :P ), but I think its a valid point. Yay for the growing mind. |
Jillian - you make it seem as if the "Satanism" of the COS is the only one there is. I am quite aware that the question was concerning this community, but I just have to point out that this is not true; Satanism is an umbrella term in itself covering a huge array of groups and individuals.

And your opinion of that matter is based on which facts, Bloopie?
|
Probably for the same reasons people become Christian, except reverse.
It's a matter of not having control over yourself, simplifying yourself into a measurement you're far bigger than. Christianity gets you through guilt and fear. Satanism gets you through anger and frustration. To be either on your own merits is a matter all together different. |

Jillian - it might be for you, perhaps. *shrug* To me, my mix of hermeticism and panentheistic Satanism makes more sense, but I guess this is a matter of personal preferences.
Bloopie - You can't back up your opinions, or won't, as it seems. Honestly, you seem to know next to nothing about Satanism apart from the Laveyians. Perhaps you should learn to talk about what you know instead of what you believe might be true. Sure, there are Satanists who can't think for themselves (personally I disagree with such persons calling themselves Satanists, because one of the most important fundamental things in this belief is to think for yourself), but there are also very many highly intelligent people who form their own beliefs (most of these do tend to be some kind of theistic, in my experience). Kontan - there's a middle, you know. Not all Satanists are reverse Christians. |

You think you're important too, but that's just sad.

Your arrogance says otherwise.
[/threadjack] |
Actually, he never claimed that he was important to us.
|
What kinds of satanism are there? At the present I am highly fed up with Christianity.
|
I think everyone here is talking about LaVeyan Satanism. Just follow the link Bloopie posted further up the page. It should explain pretty much everything.
