Which of these genres do you prefer?

I'm trying to gauge what it the most preferred genre of music on the site at this time.

maggot 04-24-2007 03:23 PM

Ugh. Shit, it fucked up, and I didn't get to put in the poll.

I don't care enough anymore.

Vako 04-24-2007 03:35 PM

My prediction is that people are going say Goth or Gothic I would imagine. Several people will say Death Rock, some will say Industrial, etc.

maggot 04-24-2007 03:46 PM

Well I was going to put in deathrock, industrial, darkwave, coldwave, 1st wave gothic, 2nd wave gothic, and metal.

Clockwork 04-24-2007 04:16 PM

I'd have voted darkwave.

Jarl 04-24-2007 04:24 PM

I wouldn't have voted, because I like so many genres and I can't pick one over the rest.

Vyvian Blackthorne 04-24-2007 04:27 PM

Goth first generation all the way.

Also, Mag, is it okay if I do a thread in which gothers (old school and ne0 d00d) or rivetheads, etc. vote for their favourite generation of gothic rock? I'm kinda ripping you there, though.

maggot 04-24-2007 04:31 PM

Yeah, I don't mind. :P

Vyvian Blackthorne 04-24-2007 04:59 PM

ghhoot goth praised!! Thank you so much Mag, I just made a poll/thread for best goth era culture via music!~

IT'S MY BEST THREAD YET D00D!!

GOOD GOTH THANK YOU SKYLER MAGGOT, THROBBING4LIFE LUL~~~~!!!!!!

gee, no wonder Rawrwithcows loves you-you're so cool!!!!

maggot 04-24-2007 05:07 PM

:D No problem.

I got a goth to say throbbing gristle is cool. My life is complete.

Vyvian Blackthorne 04-24-2007 05:17 PM

Gristle, I always liked them as a goth actually, Industrial musique (old school at least) I listen to. Actually I'm 'glad' to see you're not offended by that statement because if I'd go into a rivethead club and yelled that out they'd ask me what my favourite track by them is-so it was like stereotyping the rivethead subculture (non-intetionally of course). But thanks, I hope to see where this thread will go...

Gee, I wonder what ever happened to Empty_Purple_Stars...

maggot 04-24-2007 05:23 PM

She was banned, because the admins went on a kill-fest.

People were rebelling, and god giveth, god taketh away.

Haunted House 04-24-2007 05:32 PM

Deathrock. The original Batcave and California deathrock stuff as well as certain new bands most noteably... Cinema Strange.

Underwater Ophelia 04-24-2007 07:11 PM

I think 2nd wave gothic rock.

Ditto, and quite a few of my Genre's weren't applicable.

KontanKarite 04-27-2007 12:01 AM

Dark Wave.

Actually, I'm kinda weird. Can I just say Wave? I like darkwave, new wave, coldwave, etherwave...

Then comes Industrial and then comes the classic goth rock.

Vako 04-27-2007 12:10 AM

Did you know that there is a subgenre called "no-wave" ?

I didn't until a friend told me about it a couple of years ago.

KontanKarite 04-27-2007 12:28 AM

Got examples?

maggot 04-27-2007 03:57 AM

The Sonic Youth is a No-Wave band.

happy_dude 04-27-2007 04:12 AM

aswell as Swans, they're awesome.

Goth pwns all, this is a truth. However, Death Metal comes close for me.

Lulz, an uneducated person wouldn't find anything odd about that.

chelseagirl 04-27-2007 06:27 AM

I like too many types of music, but my favorites are probably punk, oi, and terror ebm/hellektro/aggrotech (whatever you want to call it)

But, I also really like hardcore, rockabilly/psychobilly, industrial, various sub-genres of metal, some older ska and skinhead reggae, and...surf rock. I just saw the Ventures last night...they were AWESOME! The drummer came out and used his drumsticks to hit the strings on the bass players bass, and they played a song like that. It was seriously amazing.

Renatus 04-27-2007 06:43 AM

I also love the waves and goth.

Renatus 04-27-2007 06:48 AM

Well the majority of the waves I haven't ever heard any no-wave music.

The only no-wave I have in my collection are the Raybeats. The WFMU Blog has alot of references to it, if you use the search function.

And also, here's the obvious Wikipedia entry;

New Wave and New Romantic are both really good.
