What is all this crap with people who cut and call themselves goth?! On MySpace, a girl who had "DEATH" carved into her wrist called herself goth. Why?? When will people realize what subculture they are in? Even I recognize that I'm only about half goth. The emos just need to stay in the corner and shut the fuck up.

Um yeah the real issue is that these people need help - even if they're cutting just to be "cool" (which is REALLY stupid), obviously they've got issues for thinking it's some sort of fashion statement. It's a moot point whether they're goth or not, but if they claim to be they are definitely adding to the negative stereotypes.

I agree with Linen. I have been there done that. If they're cutting they need help. Whether or not if they're doing it because they think it's "cool" or they just want attention, they need help.

And her just claiming to be goth does add to that negative stereotype, so don't feed it anymore.

I've always been a fan of helping natural selection along. It's altogether too slow for my liking.

I think that's kind of a mean way to look at it. They are probably just insecure and so they call themselves goth to give them something to boost their self-esteem. Goth is a rebellion thing too.

Cutting yourself is not an acceptable form of rebellion. Sorry. If you (the abstract 'you,' not directive 'you') think it is, you need someone to kick some sense into you. If you're doing it as a cry for help, then YOU NEED TO GET SOME HELP. I refuse to accept unacceptable behaviour just because "they're trying to be individuals" or some shit like that. There are plenty of creative, intelligent ways of expressing yourself, of commenting upon facets of society with which you do not agree. Do you want to rebel against society? Grab a sign, go on a march, join a political action group. Don't carve "DEATH" into your forearm and listen to My Chemical Romance.

I have no sympathy for the twat. She's carving something "morbid" into her arm while fully rational and posting pictures up on MySpace for attention.
