I really wonder about them....

Ugh, I'm starting to loath the presence of my fellow Christians.

Earlier I went to a Christian chatroom because I wanted to talk about religion, and I changed my name to something with the word "Goth" in it, and they started to tell me it was inappropriate. I'm so tired of how hypocritical my fellow Christians are. So many of them think that Goths are the enemy. I even had a person in that chat call me "the enemy."

It breaks my heart how misguided they are. God says to love your fellow man, and as soon as "Goth" pops up, you're automatically lesser of a person than they are because of what you wear. Isn't that hatred in a sense? I just don't understand what they find so offensive about Goths... priests wear black, yet they're revered and I'm loathed? It kills me!

I'm sorry I have to rant about this everybody, but it really hurt me. I know when you join the Gothic subculture, and begin to submerge in it, you have to expect the ridicule from other people. However, it doesn't mean it doesn't sting....

I really wish these "Christians" would take the time to read the Bible thoroughly, as it states to love your fellow man.... they must have skipped that part.

All of them are hypocrits, most of them anyway....

If only they would take the time to actually hear me out. Bleh....

I'm done complaining. Sorry again everyone--this was just a big rant I had to get out, and now I feel better.

I understand your sentiments since I myself am Catholic, tell me what specific branch of christianity do you fall under?

NachtSorcier 09-29-2007 08:20 PM

I understand what you're saying. Unfortunately, Christianity, like most other religions, has been taken over by a bunch of ignorant assholes who have strayed from the path that Christianity was meant to take. They complain when the Bible is called mythology, they whine when Genesis is taken as metaphor instead of historical fact, and they cry like bitches when someone says that Jesus was human rather than godlike.

I'm not a Christian myself, but I sympathize with the few "good Christians" out there in the world today and I totally support them.

I fall under Protestant Christianity.

Yes, if anything they're nothing more than a gaggle of hypocrites. God never said to hate Goths, people did.... I wish they could see that truth.

I think it's rather arrogant to say "This is what God thinks/wants." We should all just admit that it's what we think and want.

HumanePain 09-29-2007 08:45 PM

If they spent as much time and energy in letting Jesus live through them as He intended, instead of persecuting others, this would be a far better world.

I am a Christian, and am well aware of the warning Jesus gave us when He said that some will come in His name, but will in fact be slavering wolves ready to prey on His sheep.

If you have ever seen the movie Stigmata, then you will have the basic idea of my perspective of the Church as compared to individual salvation and relation to Christ.

I agree, it is what they want, not what God wants.

NachtSorcier 09-29-2007 08:53 PM

Just out of curiosity, what do you, as a Christian, think is the nature of God? What do you think he wants?

My personal belief is God wants a peaceful world where everybody can co-exist without any conflict. I know it's a fairytale world that will never happen, but that's what I believe. I also believe he wants you to treat others with respect and love, no matter what subculture they're part of, what sexual orientation they are, and so on, so forth. Jesus, according to the Bible, loved everybody, even those who wanted to kill him... I think that's the kind of thing God expects from us.

Renatus 09-29-2007 09:11 PM

I think the nature of god is really reflected in the nature of all religions. It's just the corruption that has ruined them, people changing god's will to what suits them best, Kingdom of Heaven is another very good example of this. People don't give a damn about what god wants anymore though, they just follow his will if it is convenient. I think the best physical manifestation of god's will is in the human mind through the concience, as Orlando bloom said in the movie the kingdom of heaven is a kingom of concience. Saladin was also a very wise man on the subject which shows that his will is restricted to no single religion.

Renatus 09-29-2007 09:18 PM

I don't think god gives a damn what religion you are as long as you live your life well, free of guilt as a good person. For if god cares more about what religion you are in, or more about if you show up to church every sunday rather than if you follow his teachings, then he is not god.

NachtSorcier 09-29-2007 09:22 PM

Really, I think that if God can create a sunset and spawn tornadoes, he probably has more important things to think about than what we're doing.

LaBelleDameSansMerci 09-29-2007 09:58 PM

God's will has been followed in convenient pieces for a long time.

6. Thou shalt not kill.

It gives no clarification, no exceptions, no "but you can kill the infidels."
But then there's stories like Judith and Holofernes, in which Judith is praised for (humbly? I don't quite get that part) killing Holofernes because he was killing God's people...

Steppenwolf 09-30-2007 01:54 PM

First I dont believe in god or follow any religion but mine , so all I'm going to say is influenced by this point of view . It doesnt mean I'm attacking anyone (has to be said ... and by the way sorry for grammar :o) )

OK : I've never felt his/her presence nowhere , or felt I needed spiritual beliefs . So , to me seems a weird thing to believe in a creator ... Only recently I started to accept that faith in love and peace could be a goal for all of us , but if you take consideration about our primitive body/nervous system , you'll see we are condemned to violence , to fight and so on ... So ... How can we stop violence??? We are not biological prepared , obviously , we only can slowly "improve" ourselves by repress our own nature . The point is that repression leads us to a kind of "psychological bomb" : All our bestiality must be released somehow ... Take a look at sports , martial arts , action films , concerts ...

If you want to reach absolute peace in this world, you'll probably need a few million years evolution in the modern world , or the help of technology to regulate our brain mechanism of violence/fear/survivalism . If you take the tech , you'll probably wonder now if you are still a human being ...

Another interesting question for believers is if god followed logic when he/she created us so imperfect , and if you can call it justice to force beast like us to wear ties and be educated ... And why does he/she wants us to improve ourselves alone , why he/she doesnt created us as perfect as he/she wanted??? You can't say this god loves his/her creatures by exposing them to things like pain , suffering ... and fear .

What kind of love is this love?
Or am I too primitive to understand???

Steppenwolf I am an atheist...but I don't think that your post really belongs in this thread.

Miss Happy Cat 09-30-2007 02:58 PM

Pssst… You’re going to find people like that in every religion. I find it sad that for all of the religions that teach love, compassion, and peace, there have to be a few rotten apples that spoil it for someone who wants to have a better understanding or be a part of it.

I know, it truly is sad... that's why many times I end of laughing at other Christians because they say to be compassionate, yet as soon as I walk by they start gossiping about me while my back is turned, and they think I can't hear them.

FEAST!!!

Oh, wait, wrong war cry... stupid Snickers commercials...

raggedyanne 09-30-2007 10:34 PM

If you look closely, every religion preaches love and tolerance; but only if it benefits them. I gave up on christianity and became a pagan but I still enjoy debating religion. They are hypocrytes when they classify ancients religions as mythology, but refuse to include their own.

LaBelleDameSansMerci 09-30-2007 10:57 PM

There was a Penn and Teller thing that I saw on Youtube, and in one part they were talking about how there were lots of Messiahs at that time. Jesus just happened to be the one who got popular. As they said, "Monty Python's Life of Brian is more historically accurate than Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ."

Edit: I figured I'd post the link so you culd watch it yourself...
http://youtube.com/watch?v=8RV46fsmx6E
You should; they have a lot of valid points.

Beneath the Shadows 10-01-2007 12:16 AM

And even intelligent assholes like Penn and Teller fall victim to bad information... They bring up the writings of the 1st century AD historian Josephus, apparently unaware that all writings by him that pertain to Jesus were proven to be forgeries centuries ago.
