DIY Backless Shirts
Does anybody know how to transform regular shirts into backless ones with just using scissors? I just got my lovely tattoo and am trying to show it off, but have very little backless shirts and want to cut up a few old ones.
Suggestions? I was going to slash the back of a t-shirt and then slit the side and tie in the slack. Unfortunately my dorm doesn't have enough room for my sewing machine, otherwise this wouldn't be so difficult. Thank you DIY darlings. |
I usually take a white pencil, turn the t-shirt inside out and draw where I want cut out.
For instance, for the kind of shirt you might want, I would make a deep scoop neck in the back. Or you can just make one big cut down the middle of the back and tie it in random places. There are ton's of sites online that can give you ideas, there is also a book: http://www.amazon.com/Generation-T-W...1458541&sr=8-2 which is probably the most awesome diy fashion book there is here is LJ's t-shirt surgery: http://community. l i v e j o u r n ...tshirt_surgery |

DIY backless shirt
if you want a backless shirt there are many styles that go along with making one. Here are a few ideas. Make your shirt into a halter top. Flip the shirt inside out and draw down and make the bottom come to a V point (optional). Make sure you don't cut off where your going to tie it. This will hold your shirt up. Next cut of the sleeves and your done. If you want to make it even more spiffy you can line safety pins and make a corset top out of it. So many ways you could do this. Hope i helps.

Personally I am a fan of slashed back shirts, just take scissors or a knife and slash away, it will allow people to see your tattoo but in a less obvious way
