Phayte 10-29-2005 01:42 PM

Lets see I have a few that I play. City of Heroes, City of Villains, WoW, Guild Wars and Diablo 2 occasionally.

Riddick 10-30-2005 07:31 AM

I do enjoy some Halflife 2, and there is something undeniably satisfying about firing up Call of Duty with my son, he on his computer I on mine, and tag teaming noobs on the sniper maps. We also enjoy Battlefront, and will be in bright and early Tuesday to get part deux (schweet) and on the console front there is also…Resident Evil, which I’ve been an extreme fan of since its initial release on the ps1. That game, shit, fucked with you in ways no game thought possible. PS2 tittles that also get play time in the home are the Final Fantasy Series, Medal of Honor(s), Teken(s), Jax and Daxter(s), Tony Hawk, and from time to time some DBZ. On the Gamecube it’s all about X-Men Legends, Mario Cart, Mario Sunshine, Pikmin, Super Smash Bros., and Zelda.

I haven’t found any killer apps for the PSP yet, but I’m hoping the coming holiday season will change that. As it stands now the only thing we play on it is Spiderman, and I’m rather bored with it. The Nitendo DS, on the other hand, is one of the most ergonomically terrific designs I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing. I fucking love it. And Nintendogs is the shizzat. I only wish it had an option to sell your mutts to a Vietnamese Restaurant if your pooch performs poorly in a show…but the unit itself, the game system, is a journey into design excellence. Anyone worth their salt and played games for any period of time will automatically recognize its superiority as a handheld gaming system.

It’s. Just. Fun.

And fuck features, online support, movie watching, music listening, and web browsing, because fun will trump those every time.

Over the last four years I’ve gotten away from the RTS games I once loved so much. I rarely play Warcraft any longer (especially since Daz left and no longer schools me on it) and I just don’t have the time for strategizing long, complex troop movements, allocating resources for RandD-Feeding-Supplying-and Recruiting, and then spend a few hours on a single round of game play. I wish I did, because I love strategy games and they do get the grey matter spinning faster and further than any other genre of games.

Much the same for MPOG’s. I would (probably) love World of Warcraft, Everquest, Dragon Siege, and be an addict, if I had the time.

For now I’m limited to something I can jump into, play a level or two, kill a player to ten, capture a beach, save the president, win the cup, and jump out of.

“Gee, you sure have a lot of game systems and play a lot of games, Tom,” you say, and I’d not disagree. I’ve been a gamer since my brother won our first game system, the Atari 2600, at a McDonalds in 81. It was mana from heaven, because there was no way in hell we could ever have afforded one. Le’sigh, good times. So I am old enough to say I was there when the craze first started, and young enough (in body and mind) to enjoy it with the same fervor and exuberance twenty-four years later.

Burnt_offerings 10-30-2005 10:07 AM

I think the xbox is Satan, and you must never succumb to the evil that lurks inside

STEIN 10-30-2005 11:51 AM

I've been playing Postal 2 and Warhammer 40k Dawn of War. And for you console people, I only play PC games.

Una 10-31-2005 03:28 PM

Sims 2 Nightlife- You can become a vampire if you find one and become it's friend and it might just bite you. I sometimes play at pogo.com and I like playing at addictinggame.com. I guess there's this game online called Rune I believe that looks pretty cool, my cousin plays it.

F.E.A.R. - has great play as a first person shooter, but what makes it so great (in my opinion) is the story, i mean i first freaked when i saw that it was a 5GB game file (WTF?). After plalying the first few missions I just felt compelled to play it to find out whats up, i mean i'd hate too spoil the story for everyone, but aside from the compelling story I find its eary sound and high-res visuals to make it a great enjoyable game, plus it has quite a few on-line game modes that is sure to keep you entertained (or maybe i'm just weird). Aside from this i'm also playing WoW in my spare time....WoW= the libido killer!

nonfatsuperjesus 11-01-2005 12:46 AM

beyond good and evil... older but just became introduced to it

gingerbreadwench 11-01-2005 01:12 AM

Huh? What are all these 'electronic games' of which you speak?

In my book, it's all about Scrabble.

Qat! Zarf! Oe! Kwyjibo!

rubedo 11-10-2005 01:01 PM

Scythan 11-10-2005 01:10 PM

Hey, has anyone played Eve Online? www.eve-online.com
There was a promotional trial version (I think it has ended though), and I liked it enough to register. I don't play it anymore because I've been busy lately, but still a great game.

I also have Guild Wars but my computer keeps screwing up. Need to re-format soon.

Mor_Rioghain 11-11-2005 06:08 AM

I only play pc-games.
My favourites are: seven kingdoms (1 and 2), age of empires 2 and anno 1602
And I also play an online game called utopia. And I'm also involved in the development of another online game, but that's still far from being ready.

rubedo 11-12-2005 02:02 PM

I like all RPG's created with the infinity engine (top down view, 2D, I don't know the specifics, but I know I hate 3D RPG's): Baldur's Gate I and II (I'm positively addicted to BGII), Ice Wind Dale I and II, and others. But those are the best.

I'm also slightly addicted to The Sims II, though not as much as I could be. I'm restraining myself because my studies are very demanding this semester.

And last but not least Bubbels! It's a very easy and mind-numbing game in Dutch, but I'm sure you can figure it out. Just shoot at the bubbles of the same colour.

snapdragon 11-24-2005 12:59 PM

I've had Vampire: the Masquerade Bloodlines for about a year now, and I'm still endlessly playing it.. XD no idea why.

Iron Storm was fun for a bit, and Silent Hill games were fun.. Resident Evil all the way!! Other than that I seem to enjoy greatly the Rainbow Six games, or other Tom Clancy games.

Devil May Cry three is confusing to me, only because im playing a foreign version... and im also slightly addicted to Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.

Which_ones_Pink? 11-24-2005 01:01 PM

Baldurs gate, Neverwinter nights, and the Final fantasy games rule.

Devcil may cry too.

But I can't decide if the best is Smackdown or Space channel 5!
