Tracks from the new Bauhaus album may be played by lame indie station sunday night!

Allow me to preface my extrapolation upon the title of this thread with the remarkable story of how I came to possess this knowledge.
Yesterday, my father installed some manner of Sirius Satalite Radio entertainment system in our home, with which he has quite enamoured. Often as of late he will turn the volume up to obscenely high levels while I am trying sleep so that I might observe the excellent sound quality, and as a result we have become embroiled in a bizarre passive aggressive struggle which generally transpires thusly: My father enters my room while I'm sleeping, trying to sleep, or otherwise indisposed and turns on the radio, forcing me to stop whatever I'm doing and turn it off. This evening, I, frustrated by my inability to defeat the boss Galamoth in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and resolved to consult gamefaqs.com, entered my room and, unsurprisingly, found that my father had turned on the radio, tuning it to some lame indie station which he figured I would enjoy. I approached the machine, intent on deactivating it again, when the strident voice of a pretentious hipster disc jockey blared through its speakers.
"I HAVE THA NEW BOW-HOWZ," he screeched, "DOESN'T COME OUT TILL MARCH! I MIGHT PLAY IT SUNDAY, ON THE DARKWAVE!"

TL;DR version: Sirius Channel 26 (Left of Center) may or may not play some tracks from Go Away White, the new Bauhaus album, at some point sunday evening (6:00-9:30).

Upon investigation I've come to understand that the guy meant 10pm-1am on channel 22, during some show they have called "Dark Wave", which actually sounds pretty cool.

Dark Wave
Quote:

Sundays 10 pm - 1 am ET
Explore the darker side of First Wave on Sunday nights with Christopher The Minister. Dark Wave is three hours of alternative rock from artists like Bauhaus, Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure, Public Image Ltd, Depeche Mode and Love and Rockets.
That's 10PM-1AM ON CHANNEL TWENTY-TWO (First Wave), for those who care and happen to own some sirius satalite radio playing device.

What happened with this? I'm curious.

Kanedawg 12-26-2007 07:19 PM

I'm glad that there is a new Bauhaus album if nothing else. Caught them a couple years ago at "The Amp" outside Phoenix. Way cool.

Xombie 12-26-2007 07:54 PM

Okay, this is sort of irrelevant, but my mother just came into the room while this screen was up and -- very dramatically -- read your posts aloud. Fun.

Kanedawg 12-26-2007 08:16 PM

El oh well! :^)

Green.Lady 12-26-2007 08:37 PM

*imagines*

Oh my. That would be quite something.

Rorschach Twin 12-26-2007 09:14 PM

There's a college radio station around here that really rocks. They play bauhaus and gothic rock sometimes.

irrelevant, but ok.

Kanedawg 12-26-2007 09:20 PM

Cool. We have a bit of that, too. Was a much better station long ago though.

I was looking on the web here and there about the new Bauhaus album and it seems that there was "an incident" among band members. Beyond that they wont specifiy, but it is the reason that the album is to be their last and is not to be toured. I got to meet Daniel Ash at a bar in Mesa Arizona after they played the Amp in November of... 2005, I think? He did not seem a happy camper and there was definitely tension in the air. I'm pretty sure it is between him and Peter Murphy. I've got to say that I think Daniel Ash's music, post-Bauhaus, is quite awesome over-all and grossly underappreciated. I did get to essentially tell him that, too.

Tension in the air, eh? Hmn...when I saw them here opening for Nine Inch Nails last year, all seemed well on stage. Afterwards I logged on to the Bauhaus forum & tho I said the show was kick ass everybody kept asking "Are they getting along? Was there any tension??" Everybody seemed surprised that I reported all looked well. Glad I saw them before it all fell apart.
I guess some relationships are best left broken rather than try to go back, eh?

Our local public college radio station plays good industrial stuff on late Saturday nights. Some gothic too. I think the original show's DJ graduated or whatever b/c her show's been traded off to different students over time & the amount of goth has steadily waned to make way for more "industrial" & "club" stuff.

"darkwave" huh? :D
When I signed on to the Gothic Beauty forum (seemingly) ages ago I based my screen name on that genre name. Was just properly getting into goth at the time & the name sounded cool. Now I feel like dork for having picked it! :D

The asshole actually didn't play tracks from the album so much as thirty second 'snippets', what I was able to hear was promising to an extent. Slightly different than classic Bauhaus, in a way reflective of the different directions in which members of the group have moved musically since "Burning From The Inside". A sample of some song called 'Adrenaline" was particularly impressive.
The guy, who calls himself "Christopher the Minister" (lame), has promised to play the album in its entirety at some point in the near future, so I suppose I'll tune in to a few more of his shows. He does play good music.

Green.Lady 12-27-2007 06:00 PM

Fair enough. I guess we'll have to wait a few months, then. :(

Rorschach Twin 12-27-2007 06:04 PM

I didn't think they were actually even done with them yet.. I guess I was wrong.

Draconysius 12-27-2007 06:55 PM

I don't even have Sirius. You lucky batstards.

Green.Lady 12-27-2007 06:56 PM

Neither do I. Sigh...

I enjoyed that pun, Draco. :D

Meh, satellite radio is nothing to be jealous of if my thoughts are to be believed. Pandora does fine when I'm not in the mood for listening to CD's or music stored on my walkman or computer.

I have to agree that they seemed to get along. For the most part, for as gawth-tastic as they are, they seemed like they were even having fun.

The show in Mesa where they headlined was SO much better than when they opened for N.I.N. where I reside, at least. Glad if it was better elsewhere. There was major drama at the hotel in Mesa. Peter Murphy not feeling well upstairs and Daniel Ash literally sulking at the bar and all sorts of innuendo. My friend was brave enough to break the ice with him, affording me the chance to tell him what his music meant to me. What Daniel said to me in response was that it would be nice if he could get paid. An "incident" is referrred to with refreshing discretion on the web. (Don't expect them to hash it out on Springer anytime soon, thank Gawd.) Not sure about the URL. I keep my autographed concert ticket stub in my CD case.

Okay. Here is one. Hopefully you will be able to click on it. I'm not sure how that is done. :^) There are quite a few if you search for "Bauhaus Going Away White, incident." And, hell, here's a whole short piece.

Goth rockers Bauhaus will break-up for a second time following the release of their first album in fifteen years, Going Away White. This announcement follows the band's 2005 reunion at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival.

"We were getting along really well," drummer Kevin Haskins told Billboard.com. "But there was an incident that occurred. Some of us just felt that we didn't want to carry on as a working unit." That was the only reason for the split the band has given the public.

Going Away White will be released this spring, possibly March 4th, on the band's own imprint Bauhaus Music. Haskins admitted: "Now, there's a little bit of an empty feeling because we can't tour with it. All the same, it's something we're very proud of, and we feel a lot of people will be interested to hear it." Going Away White tracklist:
1 Too Much 21st Century
2 Adrenalin
3 Undone
4 International Bullet Proof Talent
5 Endless Summer of the Damned
6 Saved
7 Mirror Remains
8 Black Stone Heart
9 Zikir
