You dont like it coz they like it...

This is a wii post so grammar is bad.

Im sick of talking to people who dont like bands, movies clothes and all that because others like it...

For instance mcr

yes they are liked by emos and their new album is shit...

But theyve got a few good songs.

you may not like them but that is fine, but im sick of people who say some things suck because people they dont like. Sorry but it pisses me off..

dark_dragon_of_ice 01-06-2008 05:56 PM

MCR sucks.

kimaru 01-06-2008 06:00 PM

MCR was the first band I ever liked...so I'm still a fan. But I have to admit their new album sucked.

Meh im just doing to piss the OP off.

KontanKarite 01-06-2008 06:47 PM

But MCR actually DOES suck.

Deadsy is way fucking better.

Stormtrooper of Death 01-06-2008 07:08 PM

MCR blows. There are much better underground bands that actually tour and have good music.

ForgetThisLostLenore 01-06-2008 07:18 PM

I had MCR to lead me to bigger and better things, so I still love them. Anyways, a lot of the songs I still listen to were songs I listened to with my bf, so they have special memories.

MollyMac 01-06-2008 07:19 PM

So, it is an antithesis to peer pressure. In other words, it's still a matter of acceptance. Can't like something once it's too popular.

Delkaetre 01-06-2008 07:40 PM

I'm afraid I just plain don't like their music, though I can appreciate their videos. I thought Helena was a lovely vid, very pretty.

IsolatedReptile 01-06-2008 08:36 PM

My Chem isn't that bad. You just don't like them. Have you had any radio hits lately? If you have, I'll back off. If you haven't, they're obviously better than you.

Brilliant logic there. Like I won't throw up after eating shitty food if I can't cook something better.

Delkaetre 01-06-2008 08:52 PM

Belisha have had radio hits. They're much better. Heehee, I love their cover of Ra-Ra-Rasputin.

(heartofflames) 01-06-2008 09:07 PM

Huh. And here I though these G-nettans would start bashing my head into a brick wall for liking the "emo bullshit". Which is, in fact, a matter of opinion.

Who ever said the radio had good music? I haven't listened to it for years, well for music that is. Radio hit doesn't mean quality radio it means its the lesser of the evils on those stations.

Radio hit just means they had enough talent to be chosen from hundreds of other bands to be played, and listened to by thousands of people. If you were that good, then you would be as well.

They are accessible, and that is something a lot of pretentious people don't like.

Besides, just because you don't like it, doesn't mean that it isn't good. MCR is good, most people around here just don't like it.

They didn't 'have enough talent'; they merely had the right ingredients to be enjoyed by thousands of consumerists, and are hired by businessmen.
Read the lyrics of Dead Prez. Who's better, Ded Prez or 50 Cent? Who's on the radio?

Exactly. Bands like MCR represent the musical equivalent of Penny Dreadfuls. Popularity doesn't equate with artistic quality.

Artistic quality is something else entirely. I'm saying they have talent, not that they have artistic quality.

Rap still confuses me on how some rappers can be huge on the radio and be terrible, but others can have the perfect, best, deepest raps and barely be heard of. I'm thinking it has to do with the beats...

Solumina 01-07-2008 09:12 AM

So artistic quality has nothing to do with talent. Okay so now then what do you think is talent?

He may mean musicianship.

Solumina 01-07-2008 09:58 AM

Isn't musicianship being able to be a good musician? And if so wouldn't that be part of one's artistic quality?

Yes, and no.
For example, you could be a guitar player to rival Clapton and Hendrix (or whomever else is good at guitar), but be unable to create a damn thing.

Solumina 01-07-2008 11:47 AM

Yay now I understand ^.^

I have heard Commencement and I thought it only had a few songs I would listen to again. MCR, I can't stand them for some reason.

And I do like emo bands, Silverstein is one that springs to mind. Bear in mind that I play guitar and I love their riffs. Lyrics can be very stereotypical though.

Your argument is confusing because you're using vague terminology like 'good'. To me, good connotes an ability to produce artistically dynamic music, not the ability to sell cds. MCR is the equivalent of the journalists who write for Star- they certainly possess some kind of talent, but its more talent as salesmen than it is talent as artists or musicians.

You're exactly right. The beats were the aspect of hip hop which popular culture seized upon, not the lyrics which are the true core of the genre. You'll find a lot of rap artists who just sing about girls and money over a dance-able beat in order to secure a radio hit.
