A group of Satanist caught in act

16 Feb
The local police received the message from 'good' civillian...
That there's satanic ritual in the abondoned football field...

5 minute later, the police arrived...

They arrested all the satanist in charge of twisted and different cultural...
whatever

This happened in my country, Thailand

Silvara 02-26-2008 08:55 AM

Odd... =/ Do you have a link to the story? I'm going to google it now.

honeythorn 02-26-2008 08:56 AM

How do they know the people were satanists? You can be arrested there for having a belief that is different to the mainstream ? I guess I can understand that they would arrested for trespassing on the field, which was a bad idea. But surely not for being satanists?

Tam Li Hua 02-26-2008 09:26 AM

I can't find any current news articles on this, but I -did- see quite a few links about Satanic rituals being a problem in Thailand..

Minyaliel 02-26-2008 09:27 AM

Oh, that is so infringement on the human rights. Oh man. If I was there I'd seriously tell the police men my opinion about the right to freedom of religious faith and the expression of it that they'd be deaf and dumb for the rest of their lives. Stuff like this makes me really angry.

To be fair, though, there's really not enough to go on just from the OP as to exactly what went on.

Why did the police arrest the person? Was there sacrifice of some kind involved? Was this really an act of religious persecution, or were they arresting a murderer?

Minyaliel 02-26-2008 10:02 AM

Sure. By the way - murder? You don't seriously believe that about us, do you? If you do, I'm severely disapppointed.

Not about civilized or Laveyan ones, no, but from what I pulled up when I googled "Satanic rituals in Thailand", it brought up a lot of articles about folks sacrifice, and how it's a growing problem among Thai Satanists.

Of course, the articles could be totally off, but without an actual news story to read in regards to the OP, I'm afraid I can't really put myself on either side of the issue; there just simply isn't enough info.

The vast, vast majority of Satanists are decent and harmless people.
However, you get occasional nutjobs who've laid claim to the title without bothering to find out anything about the religion and believe that killing cats or small children or their girlfriend in the name of Their Dark And Abysmal Lord or whatever is exactly the right thing to do.
Much the same as there's a very, very small number of Christians who genuinely think that killing homosexuals is exactly the right thing to do.
Very small number. Nutcases. But they get into the media and attract attention and believe that they're Satanists, so they'll drag down that kind of opinion.

Personally, I'm waiting to hear more before I make any decisions on whatever this Thailand case is.

Intriguing
Well now-a-days
People who do any type of sacrifices and whatnot
Are perceived as being satanists
When it may just be
A cult
Trying to gain publicity
And then
Having the chance to turn it into it's own religion

$haDe 02-27-2008 07:07 AM

It's like that in Asia. People stare at you if you don't conform to society's rules or trends. Rules and trends here in Asia are different in many aspects compared to those in western countries. I would know, lived here in HK for 2 years but grew up in California. Big difference.

Well, don't feel too bad; I lived in China proper for three years long before I was Goth, and my other American friends and I were constantly stared at. :/ We looked like normal Americans, but that was enough to be utterly fascinating to the Chinese public in general.

If I went back now, at least I'd feel better about being stared at if I was all Goth'ed up, and it would generate much more interesting conversation than "Clinton? Do you like?! He is very handsome!" [<--For the record, I'm not being mean; this is how my students, with their limited amount of English, spoke most of the time. I'm sure my Chinese sounded ten times worse to them! XD]
