This will probably need to be stickied.

Over the past year and a half, I've been noticing a kind of mentality amongst goth kids that equals pure failure.

First off, you are NOT a freak. You just aren't. There's nothing special about you and there's nothing naturally irreconcilable about you. You listen to goth rock and that's about all you need for justification for your precious word of empowerment. You CHOSE to put on the fishnets. People WILL NOT like you for it. Deal with it. On the other hand, I will say that it's a shame that it's like that. That a solid black clad person can so easily manipulate people to be hateful. That is truly what is sad. Not you wearing your darling fishnets.

STOP wallowing in your misery. It's just not a good idea. Growing up, I will say that I wish I knew what I knew now. Everyone has bullshit problems. Not just you.

Goth is not some spiritual decree. Give that silly shit up right now. There's nothing divine about it. God or whatever did not have you be born with torn panty hose grafted to your skin. But I will say that there are studies that show that some people psychologically find more peace of mind in the midst of night or on rainy days. But this doesn't make you a freak. It doesn't isolate you. You are just another INFP type mind or whatever. This is still not a justification to feel sorry for yourself because you were born to like eccentric or different things. It is who you are and there are BILLIONS of people just like you.

When you complain about the preps picking on you in school, you are essentially saying that you wish to be a part of them, but can't. This for the most part, probably isn't real goth behavior and is most deff not punk behavior from what I've seen. You chose to walk around all spooky looking because you like it. If you did it because you knew you'd get less than stellar attention, then you're probably a poseur or an attention whore. Own up to your "debauchery".

Again, stop calling yourself a freak. You are being a fucking conformist and letting people dictate what's in your head by admitting that you are a freak because everyone is calling you that. You are not a freak. This is neither a cool thing or a bad thing. It simply doesn't apply to you. Stop trying to make it glamorous or stop fucking feeling bad about it.

The whole world does not hate you unless you make them hate you. Stop acting like a fucking idiot. NEWSFLASH: There are some goths out there that are pussy magnets and can't help but make friends out of everyone they meet because they are actually that sociable. They do not wallow in self pity because that's not what being goth is about.

Talking about your issues here is not discouraged. But learn how to fucking communicate like a human being.

Here's some examples of how NOT to act:

https://www.gothic.net/boards/showthread.php?t=9526

https://www.gothic.net/boards/showth...ighlight=Signe

These prime examples of attention whores and poseurs is what I'm talking about. This is most deff not the way to behave like a decent person.

Okay, I might be done here. I know I'm preaching to the choir, but this goes out to all those newbies who are so egotistical about their tortured souls, that they strike me and most everyone here as fucking lame.

So to those newbies, please get over yourself or don't bother coming here.

Beneath the Shadows 02-28-2008 04:47 PM

Hey, if they want to make total asses out of themselves, let them. Please, my days are generally devoid of amusement, so I can use every laugh I can get.

KontanKarite 02-28-2008 04:51 PM

Yes, but I'm being benevolent. I'm giving them the chance to prove that they can be cooler than they come off. Cooler members = cooler forum.

As for those who think I'm being a dick or mean, yes, please, I beseech you to continue acting like a piece of watery shit. It's fucking funny.

Duane 02-28-2008 04:54 PM

It's good to know I'm not an example on how not to act. This should be stickied.

Tha Duckman 02-28-2008 04:54 PM

When I saw how much was in the first post, I decided to scratch my ass and sniff my finger instead.

KontanKarite 02-28-2008 04:57 PM

That works. I do the same thing, except I scratch my balls.

Breathless Horror 02-28-2008 05:01 PM

Kontan, I love you for this. Totally true, and phrased in a nice enough way. I second the motion for stickyfication.

Mir 02-28-2008 05:13 PM

If they don't come *here*, who the fuck will provide for all the endless hours of entertainment? You? I think not.

ForgetThisLostLenore 02-28-2008 06:13 PM

I don't know, Duckie's pretty good for a laugh.

But yes, for all of them who actually read through which will most likely be very few if any, very nicely put.

Tha Duckman 02-28-2008 06:25 PM

Fuck, I didn't so I know the new peeps won't bother.

ForgetThisLostLenore 02-28-2008 06:27 PM

Exactly! Maybe it should be restated in a few words...

Tha Duckman 02-28-2008 06:29 PM

Don't be a whiny prick?

Silvara 02-28-2008 06:40 PM

Here here! I second the motion to have this stickied. *toasts Kontan*

Godslayer Jillian 02-28-2008 06:43 PM

Haha, brilliant.

Stormtrooper of Death 02-28-2008 06:52 PM

Much agreed!

Bella Sophia 02-28-2008 07:09 PM

I agree with this a lot. It's awesome :D

LaBelleDameSansMerci 02-28-2008 08:14 PM

Hehehehe... Reading some of those old threads was kind of amusing. I'd have a thing or two to say on them, but I don't think they're resurrectable.

Sticky motion fourthed, by the way.

CSSLZT13 02-28-2008 09:51 PM

Fifthed. (Is that a word?) I'm new here, and I got the fucking point long ago. Y'know, it's funny -- that same ideology applies to practially every forum on the Internet. "Don't make an ass of yourself, and we're cool." Yeah, I had to learn that the hard way, too, but I'm learned enough.

Valerius 02-28-2008 11:04 PM

Spot on. What can you say about kids these days? Emo is 'cool', and whining is the new chic amongst the younger generation. Most of these guys dress up for attention anyway, and need a good month in boot camp.

emeraldlonewoulf 02-28-2008 11:18 PM

to put it another way......

This Was So Good I Copied It....

.... and posted it into my MySpace blog thing or whatever it is. Hope you do not mind, dear. I WOULD have credited you but I do not know your name! Sorry about that. You may view it at:

Metabolik 02-29-2008 08:25 AM

I concur...this is a mighty thread. STICK IT DAMNIT!

Minyaliel 02-29-2008 09:40 AM

*joins in*STICKY! STICKY! STICKY! ...uh... *notices odd looks* Oh what the hell. *shrugs and laughs* Anyway, Kontan, I quite agree with you that temper tantrums are very much Out. I think they're quite boring; it's people's reactions to them that are amusing, usually.

Lolly PopMuzik 02-29-2008 12:07 PM

I'll bet that the guilty parties are cutting themselves to this right now. Too bad that the Gothic Liberation Front deletes comments that disagree with them because I'd slap this there in a second.

Even worse is that they're 30-35. At least these tits can be cloaked by the folly of youth.
