To continue the can of worms that Betrothed2Death had started as a seperate topic-thread:
I am of African decent [I'm also of southern European decent, too, but that's besides the point.]. I was born, raised & oppressed to varying degrees in America. But I don't like being referred to the word "African-American". I prefer "Black" and/or "Nubian". They're 2 synonymous phrases describing the same race to me: Mine.
