I ran a mile with the wife, then spent the day writing a 7 page paper to satisfy the final exam requirement for one of the four grad classes I'm taking.* After that I went to the class and we had a pretty good discussion (the class had eight or so people enroll but only two others and I ever showed up), then I came home to a tornado warning until about three in the morning, so now I'm on tornado watch for the nervous wife while she nurses a migraine and I nurse coffee and cloves. :P

The phrase "we (I) (you) simply must---" designates something that need not be done. "That goes without saying" is a red warning. "Of course" means you had best check it yourself. These small-change cliches and others like them, when read correctly, are reliable channel markers.
