I find that, even now, in college, kids wear a "uniform" of sorts. It's not enforced, but people that run in similar circles tend to dress in similar fashions. For example, the students who fancy themselves to be more "urban" will all wear a sports jersey, colorful shorts, a baseball cap, and flashy name brand sneakers. Not an IDENTICAL dress, but all pulled from the same "urban" template. The same can be said for "preps" and "goths" and "nerds". You can go on listing social groups ad infinitum, and it holds true. Even the "scenesters", who will profess to the ends of the Earth their originality, all adhere to a code of style. I'm sure that, although I'm truly loathe to admit it, if I look were to look hard enough I'd be able to find some style cliche that I resemble. We can't escape it! Uniforms are EVERYWHERE!
