I also love how in the future, everyone seems to know Latin. One example which jumps out at me is in the movie
Event Horizon, where in the course of trying to salvage a space ship that's going to get sucked into the gravitational pull of Uranus the crew discover a recording where some guy is yelling in Latin, and of course one of the salvage crew just happens to know a little Latin himself... what the hell?
