ViciouslyBeautiful: FYI, Dave is from The People's Republic of China (mainland China), so he is serious when he says he has limited information. So we should take his questions seriously (I thought the same thing too when I first saw his posts), and I think we may feel free to explain answers in detail without being afraid of "talking down to him".

Am I right Dave?

By the way Dave, I read your Introduction, and I like math too. I am currently struggling with Maxwell's equations, third order tensors are difficult for me. Maybe we can discuss on another thread.

Back on topic for this thread: a major difference is individual freedom of expression, and human rights in the West, as opposed to the oppression in China.
Henry Zhu, David Ji, and many other American businessmen have been kidnapped and held captive without legal recourse, unable to access lawyers or judges. They are at the mercy of the Chinese businessmen who hold them hostage until they agree to sign over their businesses or pay huge ransoms. Such criminal acts would be prosecuted in the West.

This oppressive behavior only hurts China, as this intimidates other companies from conducting business in the East.

I am very interested to hear your reply Dave.

OOPS!!! Sorry VisciouslyBeautiful, this is YOUR thread! Didn't mean to hijack it.
A very merry welcome to you!
