the weird things happining to you are well...weird, it's funny cause iv'e had that same sxperence with the hole noise thing and i live alone with no naburs for about 200 meters.
it's defernetly something that can aknoladge that your there cause it stoped when you went up.
so it's out of two things.
1:its a bird, cat or animal traped in your house banging on thing 'or'
2:it's a ghost. it might be a relitive or friend trying to communicate with you through spirit.
