Homeschooling for the win!
A suggestion I would have for you, is to research the philosophies of Victorian-era British educator, Charlotte Mason. Her methods of teaching a child are very progressive, freedom-oriented, romantic and, well, just down right Goth-y as education can get, if that's how you want to look at it. =P Having had a very pleasant experience as a home educated individual, I will give my blessing to your decision to avoid the State-controlled correctional institutes of the public education system.
Being in the United States (forgive me, as I'm not up on all the recent law changes), are you legally married to your wife, or is it more of a common law marriage? More power to you and your significant other either way! (=
