I'm actually going to see Van Halen in February.
Anyway, I love a lot of bands from the 80s, but here are the ones who I absolutely love:
The Cult
The Cure
New Order
80s Genesis (the Phil Collins years)
Echo and the Bunnymen
The Pixies
Van Halen
Black Flag
Bad Brains
Beastie Boys
The Bangles
The Go-Gos
Eurhythmics
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
DEVO
The Damned
The Cure
Siouxsie and the Banshees
Public Image Ltd.
The Sisters of Mercy
The Mission U.K.
Michael Jackson (up to 1988)
Samhain
Danzig
I can highly recommend Huey Lewis and the News and Dire Straits as being examples of awesomely underrated 80s bands that didn't quite warrant a Behind the Music episode.
