well if you think about it, she started going religious with her writing as far back as memnoch. And technically, religion has been a constant, underlying thread through the vampire chronicles from the beginning. armand didn't believe in god or the devil, or at least he'd never experienced anything to convince him that either one existed. which is why he went into the sun when he saw veronica's veil. I never really understood how he was saved from all of that. but anyway. somewhere along the lines rice rediscovered her catholic upbringing and returned to it. I think since her husband's death she's gone extremely religious. that sort of thing tends to inspire more religous thoughts in a lot of people, especially those that are already prone to it.

i remember how akasha and enkil were turned. what i was trying to find was the mythology behind the nature of vampires, that rice used as a sort of origin. i guess i didn't word it correctly in the beginning.

"What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection
Is it all you wanted to be?
What if you could look right through the cracks?
Would you find yourself [or]
Find yourself afraid to see?..." -NIN
