Threshold test, as in "if you can handle this, you're part of the group" test

So I just watched a whole bunch of films by Werner Herzog (he's in Seattle showing them), and it just reminds me of something I once wrote-if you've never seen a Herzog film, you don't know shit about kovies, and there's no need pretending otherwise. Seeing his newer films, I stand by that statement even more so

"Lessons In Darkness"-Herzog's documentary about the after-effects of Gulf Wars, Episode 1. Haunting and unforgettable.

"Wheel Of Time"-a documentary about the Kalcharka Initiation celebrations. Who knew the Dalai Llama was one seriously funny motherfucker? And who would've ever imagined Herzog and the Llama cracking jokes about the center of the universe?

"The White Diamond"-Would you fly a zeppelin over the heart of Guyana? Dr. Graham Dorrington does. Not as enthralling as Herzogs other works, but then again, Dorrington's a bit more normal that Herzog's other subjects tend to be.

"The Wide Blue Yonder"-nobody but Herzog could have pulled this off....an od combination of sci-fi film, nature documentary, philosophical pondering, and NASA films, an alien "Brad Dourf" talks with a group of earthmen about his home planet....."Wide Blue Yonder" stands as one of Herzog's greatest acheivements.

And he's still filming "Rescue Dawn", a film based of the story of Dieter Dengler, whom Herzog had made the wonderful documentary "Little Dieter Needs To Fly" about. See "Little Dieter", then wonder how Christian Bale is going to play the part.

Or hell, just see ANY Herzog....NOW!
