If you actually read the report, its not Microsoft that donates the money but the Microsoft Matching Gifts Program, like many of the corporations listed there the money comes from the employee's pocket, not the actual corporation. The vast majority of his organization's donations are less than 500 dollars a piece, and the Microsoft and Warner Bros donations are under the 500 dollar mark as well. So he was right that individuals donate far more than corporations do.
Regardless, even if he was bad at accounting doesn't mean he's bad at science.
