Hands up everyone who used to wear these back in the 80's. I'm not sure about anywhere else, but they were the height of Goth de rigeur for a time in Australia. I had a pair of black, patent leather, ankle length ones. Of course the problem with them was the pointy toes would eventually curl up, and they'd look like Goblin shoes. But I suppose that was part of their overall charm.
