The ignore button is a VERY good point. A troll can't and won't troll if noone gives them the satisfaction of a response. there are good newbs and bad newbs and it's usually pretty clear early on who belongs in which category. This is a public forum and as such we, members of the public, get to deal with other members of and from the public internet space. Again reiterating that we get the good with the bad.
The only way around this is to make the site NON public and require new members to be sponsered in. Doing so limits the potential this site has for the sharing of words and ideas with new people. I've only been here for a couple of years, and not super active during a lot of that time but I can tell you that there has ALWAYS been disruptive newbs and there will ALWAYS be more that follow so long as the site remains publicly open.
Mael is right on the money. If you read some posts by someone and you do not approve, use the ignore button and potentially report major abuse to your local mods. That's all any of us can do should we choose to participate here.
