Well at least you know most of the people. Family relationships can be tiring but at least you know them, you know?
What I hate are the parties for my husbands work. He's not into social interaction so we really don't get together with anyone usually aside from the once or twice a year 'mandatory' things and trying to think of things to say to people who you probably wouldn't know from "Jack" is what really takes the wind out of you. Thankfully we got his holiday party out of the way last week (I think). The DJ fucking sucked and the other people at our table went off on their own little cliques, socializing with people at other tables and playing the silly little games.
The highlights of the night were bitching via facebook status updates on text message, the table of drunk guys behind us, and walking in to the kids party at the end of the night to find our daughter stuffing her face full of chocolates like a hamster looking the apocalypse in the face!
Oh, and as for my social life I kind of don't have one right now. When my baby bat was younger we had a close knit play group and would get together with them lots but now with the move to a different state and her in school so much I haven't really connected with our new playgroup that much in person. They didn't host a Christmas Party (well Holiday- lots of them are Pagan) like our other group usually would. I guess maybe when i get in Vet Tech school maybe there will be parties for that and probably once I start interning my work will have one.
