If you called in sick and can prove you did so then you could sue them for unfair dismissal. You cannot legally be fired for being genuinely ill and espescially not if you called in to say you couldn't come in . Or perhaps they would prefer you to cough and splutter all over the merchandise and customers/co-workers?

Put that to them.
