Are you sure he doesn't mean fetish style underwear? , the usual Latex/pvc/it's got D rings on and peekaboo holes sort of affair? ( which no doubt many people mistakenly seem to think goths wear all the time )
Why not browse some sites together and ask him to point out the things he likes the look of. Then when he's not around pick one which YOU like from the ones he indicated and get it to wear for him if you want to dress up for his benefit.

Well I keep asking him about it but I think he is unsure himself, I think I might just go for black and red underwear and this net thing you can get in ann summers. No point going too far and him not think its attractive.
