No, many of them are just as intelligent as anyone else. Some of them, granted the minority, do have good jobs (A woman who posts erotica pictures of herself on her own website isn't quite the same as a prostitute who had to do it because there was no other choice, right?) and some find it empowering even (I know dominatrices who *really* do enjoy it), and others its internalized and a defense mechanism. When its all you've done, and you're suffering mental health issues because of it, its not easy to get out. A prostitute may be very clever with computers or math but if she's suffering from PTSD its going to be really hard to find a job, or you know, if her pimp might kill her if she tries to leave (half of the mortality rate of prostitutes in the US is due to murder)
