I just distilled one of my favorite old "shaggy-dog story" jokes into a limerick, and while it's not racy enough to make my signature (that would need a "shag-a-dong story" origin), I thought I'd share it here:
There once was a lever that would sever
Human beings from their mortal tether.
Nate the Snake did stand by it.
A fight erupted to pry it.
Nate died; but hey, better Nate than lever!
