Hot Topic stores in Midland, Bay City malls set to close

The Hot Topic stores in the Midland and Bay City malls are set to close their doors after being pegged as some of the company's lowest performing.

The stores, located at 6800 Eastman in Midland and 4101 Wilder in Bay County's Bangor Township, are hosting closeout sales as Hot Topic, Inc. aims to close 40-50 under-performing stores by the end of the first quarter in 2011.

Hot Topic is a mall and web-based retailer of pop-culture accessories, apparel and more, according to the company's website.

The Hot Topic store in the Fashion Square Mall in Saginaw Township is not among those closing.
