I don't really know why there's such a strong affinity for black hair. All I know is that it looks amazing.
Hmm.. Yeah. True that. The black was maybe chosen and became so traditional because it was the only dramatic colour easily available at the time that looked more sombre and didn't read as punk. Perhaps the same is true of black eyeliner and red lipstick.
I'm not sure if the black hair came directly from vampires. With such a mishmash of styles and influences it's hard to know where everything came from. But you may be onto something there -
Dave Vanian of the Damned would dress like one and likely helped those styles catch on!
