The Skeleton Key
Tuesday -
Exorcism of Emily Rose
The Cave
Today -
Edward Scissorhands (cause my neice and nephew never saw it).
Review: War of the worlds was actually pretty good, I thought. For what it was, at least. And I usually despise anything Tom Cruise has to do with. He's the same character in every one of his films and it just grates my nerves. Anyway, I had to read the book in high school literature class, so I knew the ending. My neice got pissed (she's 12) because she thought the ending was stupid. I didn't understand why she thought it would be any different from the book, until I realised she has not been required to read it. And probably won't be. I thought it was required reading for everybody.
Skeleton Key also was pretty damned cool. I wasn't too impressed until the very end. Its nothing profound, but it does kind of kick you in the ass. Least it did for me.
Tuesday wasn't nearly as exciting...
Emily Rose was rather boring. Most of it is court room antics and anybody out there that's sitting on a jury is not going to buy the whole supernatural, demons, possession bs - otherwise every murderer in the world would get off. But its one of those movies that leaves you to decide on your own what was true and what wasn't. The biggest qualm I had with it was that they hyped it up to be based on a true story. The ONLY part of it that's true was that some girl - with a completely different name - died durring a supposed exorcism in germany durring the early 1970's. I would not have bought the dvd, had I seen it in theaters.
The Cave was a piece of shit. The concept had potential, but the fact that I recognized NOBODY should have been the first clue - it usually is in films, at least for me. I thought the previews looked cool, what little previews there were. A 90+ mile cavern in the mountains filled with some kind of bat creature thing from hell or somewhere - the writers probably didn't even know. The action was so muttled you couldn't tell what the hell was going on most of the time. And at the end, the exit is like 15 feet from the main room, under some water. WTF??? And what was the ice caverns shit about? It tried to be a vampire thing. Or at least I think so. The very end hinted at a sequal. Gawd i hope not. These are the films that remind me why it is i never buy dvd's before I've seen them first...
I have Dark Water sitting in a bag unopened. I'm kind of afraid to...

Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection
Is it all you wanted to be?
What if you could look right through the cracks?
Would you find yourself [or]
Find yourself afraid to see?..." -NIN
