Ok. you're forgiven. Kind of...
I will agree, partially, that the beginning of TVL was rather dull getting started, with his ramblings about the wolves and his brothers and father, and all of that. But those details are keys to his future, especially the wolves, and help to shape the personality of the vampire that he becomes.
The first 3 books are a trilogy. The others are pretty much complete stories on their own. I wasn't much impressed with bodytheif. But I will tell you that you might as well get used to Lestat's narrating because Bodytheif and Memnoch the Devil are all about Lestat. Then there's The Vampire Armand, Pandora, Merrick, Blood and Gold, Blackwood Farm and Blood Canticle. (Did I miss any?) Blackwood and Canticle are sort of a part 1 and 2 thing but not really. I haven't really read much of Canticle because the beginning is just idiotic, the way he's ranting on, trying to sound like some homie from the block... what the fuck rice was smoking on that one i have no idea... but anyway...
And I still can't remember what the hell the greek mythology consisted of. I'm talking about the parts where Lestat, or somebody, is telling the story of the god of the underworld that was cut into pieces and sent down the river styx. I am most certain its in TVL, but since I don't currently have a copy of that one I can't be sure.

"What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection
Is it all you wanted to be?
What if you could look right through the cracks?
Would you find yourself [or]
Find yourself afraid to see?..." -NIN
