R&B used to be a form of Jazz, the oldies here will remember it, the good old swinging tunes. It was basically halfway between your normal up-beat Jazz and your Blues (that's how it seemed to me anyway) but now it's just been twisted beyond all recognition.

CRUEL INTENTIONS: You've got a good point about modern-day Soul/R&B. The line between Soul & Rap have become completely blurred, to the point to where no one could tell 1 genre of music from the other. It sounds & [in the case of B.E.T./MTV/VH1 music videos] looks the fucking same now. On any given day, give me oldschool Soul [Marvin Gaye, Temptations, Al Green, Bobby Womack] & Neo-Soul [Angie Stone, 1996-2002 Erykah Badu, Musiq, Aaliyah's slower songs] instead of what passes for R&B these days [Usher].
