colour seasons? little help?

i saw this mentioned in another thread 'determine your season' and it totally rung a bell for me. i was searching similar online the other week. sick to death of playing what-not-to-wear all by myself, and after reading other threads, everyone here seems to have sense... so...

my gal pals are all very cute and can get away with skirts and colour, but i can't seem to pull it off. everything looks too butch on me. but meh, i settle for earthy black and brown. goes with my hair which is a wonderful natural rotted cherry brown and black chunks. i have no idea what 'season' i am, figuring i could play with more femme clothes if i were chosing the right colours, non?

Your skin appears to be on the warm side in the picture so I would say spring or winter. Loreal has foundation for all the tones now. Free make-over could limit the selection.

2. I hear that Tim Gunn's book is more useful than just about anything What Not To Wear suggests as it seems to take colors, bargains and fashion inspiration into consideration.

I might browse a copy myself and see what it has to say.

fashion guide... if I felt I was totally lost... perhaps. I will check it out regardless, as I do like to read. I have leaned toward autumn and winter colours... but spring hues are new. I suspected I was 'doing it wrong' as colours look wrong on me. I just want more choices, ya know.

not that I dislike grey tech fabric shirts, fishnets, docs, jeans and all my regular bits - I just must break this fear of colour.

Catch is right, you're probably a winter or spring. Go for lighter colours, but avoid pale ones, they may make you look a bit washed out. Since your hair is dark, you could easily pull of white - I say a midlength green or blue skirt with a white shirt would make you feel pretty and feminine without feeling overdressed or butch.

That's just one idea, from there you can mix it up a bit. Good luck!
