Fashion DIY tips and gratuitous plugs. And hair. Hair! Flow it, show it. Wait...no. That's some hippie musical. Nevermind. |

Any One Else Befriend All Your Local Hot Topic Employees?
Maybe I'm just friendly, I don't even really like shopping there... but somehow I managed to befriend everyone from manager to assistant manager to the newest employee. I know them all by name and a lot about their persona life and what kind of music they like and everything. Everyone who I tell that too just rolls their eyes like it's so typically like "Of course she knows them all, she's a goth." Anyone else get this?

What does goth have to do with being friends with people from Hot Topic?

There's a lot of stuff on here that has nothing to do with being Goth or anything Goth related, I'm just asking a question.

I think she's going for the "No reason for goths not to get along with Hot Topic and their employees!" message. But most of us have already realized that it's, y'know, just a store.

I know, I don't even shop there I grew out of it. I just don't know how the hell I can just walk in and know everybody. It puzzles me.

So what? I know everyone that works at the Roude-Leiw Tuning centre. I know everyone that works for City Maintenance, I know almost everyone that works in the catering department of the Hilton and the Royal. I also know the Mob-City team. It's not a big deal, like Lolly said, it's just a store...

Do you expect to receive a discount on any potential purchases from Hot Topic now that you have befriended all of the staff?

What reason would you have to believe that anyone else here would 'get this'? It's a totally particular circumstance with only a tangential relationship to self-identification as a goth-- what's your next thread, "does anyone else have a goth friend named Andrew?"

Maybe you're getting the reason behind the eye rolling wrong, maybe it's more of a "Why the hell would I care if you know them, who doesn't know the people in the places where they shop alot" then a "Of course because you're goth" thing.

No, because Hot Topic employees are hardly ever goth.

No, cuz I like Spencer's more. Hot Topic is way overpriced and From what I've seen never has any sales. The other day I got four shirts from spencers and whenever you buy two you get one half off. Hot Topic was all $20+ shirts throuout and not a single one I liked.

I was once on first name terms with the staff of my local Job Centre! Thankfully, I eventually found a job before we started sending each other Christmas cards!!! LOL!

Yes, courtesy of a my local Job Centre and a period of unemployment a few years back! I really was on first name terms with them! Terrifying, really.
Thanks for the posting, Raveanya! It made me smile and remember my own little, creepy first name terms experience!!! LOL!!!
