Swimsuits and chlorine-tolerant modifications

Has anyone here modified a swimsuit or know of a good tutorial on how to do so? I've been trying to google it, but the signal-to-noise ratio is a bit too low. I have a lovely plain black bikini that I'd like to put a spiderweb design on the top, but I'm not sure what materials to use to get something that can handle actual swimming.

I don't modify swimwear, mostly because I don't wear it. I would imagine that you'd have to get similar material to the bikini's original material, though.

No matter what size I've ever been, I think I look terrible in swimwear. All I see is fat when I put one on, no matter what size a really am.

I did find this for thread and needle recommendations.

A spiderweb would require paint or beading I think rather than fabric. There have to be swimsuit paints out there somewhere but I apparently can't find them. I did however find out that there's a thriving market for painting on swimsuits.
