A wistful elder slowly returns...
It's been a while since I was here. The business of life and trials and tribulations had almost sapped all my will to live. I have, of late, been near the end...longing for the peace and quiet of the grave. But the Goth community "called" to me, I had thought it long gone...replaced by the unfeeling "emo" which I must say I detest. But there are still those true to the darkness...those who understand...many who were there in the beginning, like me, and those who came after with kindred dark spirits! I honor you, and I thank you for keeping the darkness in your hearts!
Ok...to the questions, mostly because I am somewhat trad...
1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job) I work in retail (horrors), in management (double horrors) when I am not learning as much as I can online, hiking in the great wilderness and beauty here in Colorado, and trying to learn how to be a husband and father.
2. Where are you from? I was born in Louisianna...and wish to someday return, if not to live, at least to visit my beloved New Orleans!
3. Who is your favorite author? Far too many to list, but I especially relish Lovecraft...my first introduction to horror in elementary school!
4. What are your favorite films? Again, not enough room. I have of late returned to watching the original horrors, most notably House on Haunted Hill (1959).
5. What music do you want played at your wedding? Too late for that one.
6. At your funeral? Midnight Summer Dream by the Stranglers...I've loved the song since I was a tike! One of the few that has stuck with me all these years.
7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die? I've always thought I'd do myself...but now I'm just gonna let what happens happen.
8. What kind of casket would you want? Sleek, black, black satin lined.
9. What's your FAVORITE outfit? My usual black shirt, pants and Docs. My overcoat if it's chilly. My eyeliner...haven't done my lips or nails in some time though....hmmm.
10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid? Freedom seemed more likely. Sure we have freedom as we grow, but we sometimes cannot act upon it without realizing the repercussions...things we didn't think of when children.
11. What's your favorite band? Probably all time fav is Stranglers, followed closely by Smiths, if we are counting the bands whose music we like the most of. There are several I love who only have one or two songs I like.
12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major? I went to college, but didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up, so I quit. I studied Criminology.
13. Why did you join? I am feeling wistful for my Gothic past...looking to remember with others and share!
14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender? Have never been sure...I am married with a child, but like my wife says..."you are the least manly man I've ever met!" (Not sure if she means it as a compliment or not!)

Perhaps a noob to the goth scene or even just to the forum, however in my experience, many of those attracted to Goth have an "ageless" spirit about them...perhaps not the "noob" they thought?

Well I'm mostly new to the forums.
I'm not really what you consider to be goth. I'm merely attracted to all things dark. I'm more of an indie kid.
Although the majority of people that I associate myself with are "goth".

Hello + Welcome from a fellow Coloradoan (if that is in fact how we say it)
Where abouts are you?
I've always wanted to visit New Orleans.
How old is your child? Boy or girl?

Hello, sir! I am certain your wife meant that as a compliment. Besides, husbands who wear eyeliner are the best kind.
I too am a newbie. I've been "around" the scene for a long time but never involved. I am thrilled to see an elder around here. Welcome to the forums!

So when you say that you are returning do you mean to this site (if so what was your old user name?) or to the scene? Either way I'm sure that you will find that much has changed, hopefully you wont be terribly disappointed.

If you're a fan of Lovecraft you should check out (if you haven't already) the silent film of Call of Cthulhu that the HP Lovecraft Historical Society put out a few years ago. It's excellent and I highly recommend it...

Returning to the scene. I think I checked this site out a couple of years ago, but was a little too busy to join at the time!

Good luck! I wish I could commit to joining the group. Right now it just isn't feasible with my classes that will be starting in January =( It sounds like it would be a good time!

Welcome back to the comforting arms of gothdom. I know how hard it is to participate in all of the ways we used to do before we had families and day jobs and mortages...I'm sure, no matter what's changed, you won't be disappointed (unless the DJ plays too much industrial on your rare night out!).

I'll just have to wait + see what life is going to bring me. Some big decisions will be made in the very near future.
