The Haiku Thread
I don't think there's been a Haiku thread so far. They could just as well fit in the poetry thread, but I think is better to make them into a whole new section.
I feel haikus are different than poems because, aside from the minimalist form of writing, while a poem must be pondered about deeply before the diamond in the rough begins to sparkle, a haiku just comes to you, and you feel it is a haiku.
Here's an example of a Haiku that came to me, and inspired this thread:
That which is not dead
Can never rest merrily
But can love instead.

Oh, I love haikus! I don't write many, but I love to read them.
I don't know that poems have to be thought of too much before they take shape. I've written a few that just seemed to flow write out of my pencil without any conscious though and voila. But then again, for everyone one poem like that, I've written maybe ten others that took a lot of thought...

My fat panda walks
It's bow bounces and wiggles
It must be hungry.
Thank you, I now must make random and horrible haikus. Yet it is fun. Now I see why my friend loves to make random stupid ones out of the names Phillip and and his own name. O.o

We should make a funny haiku thread in the general section.

Once upon a time
There was a faerie princess.
My haiku now ends.
How does one tell tales
With such great limitations?
Wow, this is so fun!
And now I see that
Haikus make bad faerie tales
Wow, that's depressing.

I think that most teens
Do not like to write horrible
Essays of doom
And so I am not
Surprised to hear you fall in
This category
Oh, hopeless papers
That school assigns to us:
Please, just go away

Furry, squirrelly things
Will take over the whole world:
I will lead them on.
As the sun soon sets,
Ever should light shine again,
Is, till then, darkness.
I wrote a good one about marching band a couple of years ago, but I have since lost it

Here's mine for the day:
Apes are int'resting
Is it so hard to believe
That we once were them?

You lack the system of haiku
It is 5-7-5 in most cases.
Yours is 3-5-5
You may not be the only one who has done this, but I caught it easily just by reading it.
